Someone's got to define 'cruel'.
If it's widely accepted that the fox population need to be kept under control, the only question is how it's done.
Fox hunting is part of our heritage of which we're all so proud.
Well, the English left amongst us at least.
I'm assuming that most foreigners in this country would not have the gaul to be animal rights types, the laws in most other countries are nowhere near as strict as ours.
If you look at what goes on in some 'poorer' countries it's far, far worse than here.
Throwing a goat off a tower, now that strikes me as a bit unecessary!

Regarding the comments to the affect that it's only the rich aristocracy of the country that enjoys this sport, I wish I was eligible for an invite.
People with f8ck all always have a pop at the rich, that is until they come into some money, then it's a different story.

So, just to re-cap, don't throw foxes off towers.
The rest is just part of our culture.

THE END

Zuke, the hunting brigade enjoy the 'spectacle' of the fox being hunted down and torn apart, it makes them feel superior. It has nothing to do with pest control, they could shoot the fox but there's no fun in doing that, is there ? Ban it now.

not my cup of tea but I can think of one good reason why we should 'allow' it to carry on;

if we start banning everything that a simple majority of people feel like banning on emotional grounds because it is not to their taste, then that is the slippery slope to intolerance and loss of freedom. next it might be something that you happen to like doing.

If you don't like it don't do it but none of have any right to prevent someone else from pursuing this sport.

Well said Bigman. This so called debate about hunting is just a distraction for Blair and the Braindeads to take attention away from the appalling mess they have made of running the country.

Ban it , though never ceases to amaze me how the fate of a few hundred foxes killed this way each year causes such passion, while the fate of the 800million odd factory chickens processed each year in the UK in conditions of the utmost cruelty excites almost no interest. If it is not a class thing, maybe it is an er mammal thing.

No view really.....

I have noticed that many foxes are killed by road traffic, probably many more than are killed by hunting.

Foxes need to be controlled esp where I live but the area is inaccessable to hunts.

I therefore suggest that Ken Livingstone allow an increase in road traffic to help cull this city vermin....or allow the prols to gather arms and destroy the verminous animals themselves.

This would take the working man's mind off revolution against the state and allow him exercise and a release for his neaderthal inclinations.....

The choice is ours, according to the Labour manifest......ratflmho.
