10/1/2011 12:05 | Hi Piedro, good to see this news. Last September I noticed there was a snippet on the HMY web site about the submission of a joint research paper to a conference in October where HMY and RR were presenting on Gas Fuelled Ships. It appears the technical solutions were well advanced. It sounds very positive going forward. | alter ego

22/12/2010 09:39 | Piedro, interesting article revealing news which hasn't shown up on HMY website. I know they contemplated setting up manufacturing facilities in Brazil as part of the large LPG carrier order from Transpetro but it was actually cheaper to manufacture the tanks in China and ship them. Given the opportunities in Brazil, I think it can only be a matter of time before local sourcing is inevitable. Creating a dedicated service centre looks to be a step on that path. I'm very interested to see that the oil/water separator technology acquired from Aibel is gaining traction. It's a continuous flow treatment process rather than the traditional settlement technology and capable of much higher throughput as I understand it. Also great to hear that the gas flare capture is making headway. Apart from the potential commercial importance to HMY it assists in cutting a massive source of emissions and waste. Such snippets may not move the share price but despite the lack of headline grabbing contracts it's clear that progress is being made in expanding the product range in important areas and achieving sales. Now all we need is some good news about the ballast treatment technology becoming commercially available before too long. regards, AE | alter ego
