09/6/2010 15:47 | Noshy, I'd say it's very significant. First order of its type, proof that the technology does the job, proof of commercial viability compared to other options, approx £1.25m per ship in revenue - profit margin has to be at least up with Group average of 9% for a ground breaking product. A few more like this and the Krystallon acquisition will have paid for itself - alright they did spend a fair bit on R&D as well to bring the product to market. New rules on emissions will continue to drive demand here. peter27, yes, new build is quiet but it's not just "maintenance and refurbs". Just look at the major news items here to see why. | alter ego
09/6/2010 08:37 | With the drop in T/O last year - any order is significant. They said that they are getting very few new build orders and most of the business is maintenance and refurbs so it's a sign that this side may be on the move again and I would call it a straw in the wind for better things. It would be nice to know how much tendering they are doing at the moment but I doubt that will be announced although it might be established at the AGM if anyone is going and could ask the question, possibly in post-meeting chit-chat; always a good way to find out what's going on. | peter27

01/4/2010 07:42 | challenging market Pre-Close Trading Update Hamworthy (AIM:HMY), a world leader in the design and manufacture of innovative marine, onshore and offshore fluid handling systems, is pleased to give the following trading update as it enters its close period. The Group continues to trade in line with expectations, achieving a high profit-to-cash conversion and maintains a strong balance sheet. The Board remains confident of meeting full year expectations for the year ended 31 March 2010. The Group's order book at 28 February 2010 stood at GBP163 million (28 February 2009: GBP270 million). As expected, the rate of order intake in the second half of this financial year for original equipment has remained in line with the level reported for the first half year. Demand for the Group's Aftersales products and services continues to remain steady. In the shipbuilding market ordering of new vessels remains at historically low levels. Whilst the Group has witnessed a slight improvement in some areas, general market conditions remain challenging and it is still too early to predict when activity levels will return to normal. Hamworthy remains focused on margin improvement across the Group and action continues to be taken to reduce its cost base to match current trading conditions. In addition the Group is pursuing a range of organic and acquisitive growth opportunities, in particular within the upstream oil and gas sector and markets driven by environmental legislation. The Group will be announcing its Preliminary Results on Wednesday 2 June 2010. An analyst briefing given by Gordon Page (Non-Executive Chairman), Joe Oatley (Chief Executive) and Paul Crompton (Finance Director), will be held at 9.30 a.m. at the offices of Abchurch Communications, 125 Old Broad Street, London, EC2N 1AR. | noshy
