10/10/2012 16:28 | Failed merger 'opens Pandora's Box' and puts BAE in play On Monday night at the Tory party conference, Sir Gerald Howarth, until last month a minister at the MOD, said he feared that the BAE-EADS proposals had "opened a Pandora's Box". By Damian Reece, Head of Business2:02PM BST 10 Oct 2012 The lid has now been blown off that box by the news that BAE won't be merging with EADS. BAE Systems is certainly in play, although the Government retains its golden share that can veto any further corporate action. However, having been willing to entertain a merger of BAE with EADS, presumably the Coalition is willing to consider any bid, or even break-up, of BAE. Article continues...... | tullynessle | |

04/10/2012 17:23 | The reference to 787 Dreamliners is interesting - twelve (12) delivered in Q3. Hopefully good news for Hampson as well as Boeing's other Suppliers. The reference to F/18's may be positive news for Hampson also - see link 2 Extract: "The company also delivered 12 Dreamliners, up from one a year earlier and six in the second quarter." Link 1: Oct 4, 2012 Boeing's 3rd-Quarter Commercial Deliveries Rose 17% By Tess Stynes Boeing Co.'s (BA) third-quarter commercial aircraft deliveries rose 17% from a year earlier as deliveries of more fuel-efficent planes continued to rise. The world's biggest aerospace company has increased production amid strong demand from airlines for more fuel-efficent jets, including its 787 Dreamliner. The company delivered its first Dreamliner slightly more than a year ago after years of delays and billions of dollars in cost overruns. In the latest period, Boeing reported 149 commercial-aircraft deliveries, including 102 for its 737 next-generation planes. A year earlier, it delivered 127 commercial aircraft, including 100 of the 737 next-generation line. The company also delivered 12 Dreamliners, up from one a year earlier and six in the second quarter. Commercial deliveries declined by one from 150 during the second quarter. Most deliveries under its defense, space and security programs were F/A-18E/F and EA-18G fighter jets and new builds of Chinook helicopters. Boeing has continued to add orders for the Dreamliner and other aircraft, contributing to its strong lead this year on that front over archrival Airbus--a unit of European Aeronautic Defence & Space Co. (EADSY, EAD.FR). Boeing plans to release its third-quarter financial results on Oct. 24. Shares rose 20 cents to $70.06 recent trading. The stock is down 4.4% this year.
