Having spoken to someone close to this company recently, my only fear is that they appear to be losing some of the better former Chapman Hendy employees, who don't seem to be happy with the new company. Change, and especially a merger, tends to cause some people to leave, but I am keeping a close eye on who is leaving, since this company is only as good as the calibre of people working for them. I think we can still expect some more growth in the bottom line though (I hope).
regards,
Moniar

Results out next month? Does anyone have an idea how they've been doing this half year? I'm hoping for a continuation of impressive growth.

Great half year results from my favourite company. The only way is up. Rock solid, safe, growing. The fundamentals are a dream. Anyone with any sense should have a big lump of money in this.

There were 2 x50000 traded that day .
But they didn't appear on the trades.I only noticed it on one site.Others didn't include it at all.I agree with Cowyed .Bit of a monopoly as long as they don't do anything silly pretty safe.I have held for a couple of years and only sell a few if I have too.It is worth 75% of my portfolio. Most people would not agree with that ratio of exposure on one share. But no sleepless nights so far.
Half yearlies due soon should push up another couple of pence.

Cowyed,

Thanks for that. I'll copy & paste to our club's discussion group. As a supplementary question: any idea as to the reason for the big jump? Is it as simple as the MMs trying to get stock?

Ben,

For the enlightenment of your shareclub, HACAS Chapman Hendy are essentially a consultancy firm in the Social Housing business.

They offer advice and consultancy in many areas, but have made their names in large Scale Voluntary Transfer where local authority housing stock is transferred to Housing Associations and other not for profit companies. They advise on the transfer, on obtaining funding, IT procurement and on the business plan.

There used to be two companies, HACAS and CH, but they merged 2 years ago and now have an effective monopoly in this area.

The market place is still growing and I would estimate that unless they mess up in a big way, they are as safe a bet as you can get.

Regards

All very odd - price goes up and people keep on buying - nobody selling.

FWIW - my shareclub bought these on fundamentals alone - we're still not sure what they do but as long as they keep going up it's fine by me

Thanks for that Wildrover - I didn't check as the RNS section of the LSE's website was down all yesterday while they upgraded it. Looks really good now.

Nice to see the directors still holding over 70% of the shares.

Anyone want to breath life into this board? IMHO its a steal at the current price, given the voluntary stock transfers in the pipeline for the next few years. Its the Vodafone of housing consultancy (without the debt!). Maybe the spread is putting people off?

Hacas non-exec cashes in on recovery
A non-executive director of social housing and consultancy Hacas Group has sold down his holding just over a month after selling 340,000 to institutional investors and exercising options on 1 million shares.

Richard Wollenberg pocketed £52,500 on Friday when he sold 50,000 shares at 105p each. This reduces his holding in the £31 million company to 1.5 million shares or 5.1%.

Last month Citywire reported members of the board of Hacas had sold 800,000 shares between them to satisfy institutional and private client investor demand.

Wollenberg was the biggest seller that day with 340,000 shares going for £323,000 with chairman Julian Ashby, managing director Derek Joseph and company secretary Jeffrey Zitron selling 140,000 each and executive director Peter Chapman offloading 40,000. At the same time Wollenberg exercised options on 1 million shares.

Hacas (HCS) has seen its share price recover strongly of late after a slump in April. It began the year with a high of 112.5p in late January before falling back to a low of 80.5p in the first week of April. It has recovered well since then and today stands unchanged on 104.5p.

One shrewd investor is hanging on to its stake in Hacas for the time being. The Framlington Innovative Growth investment trust (FIT), managed by Brian Watson and Chris Bell, holds 1.225 million shares or 4.43%.

Hacas provides consultancy, research and funding services to local authorities, housing associations and government departments. Last year it enjoyed a 67% rise in pre-tax profits at £1.6 million and doubled sales to £5.76 million.
