There was on another articla talk of wmh and gvc going for Amaya, and
with gvc holding the ace card party poker, the others will want
gvc involved, we are like the UK of Europe. Weak without us.

Interesting few weeks ahead.SP may suffer, but everyone has faith in KA,s ability to do deals.Hard to ignore Amaya,if KA wants GVC at the top.The other option would maybe go after 888.It will all work itself out in due course.

Very interesting I did say we would go for wmh, and this is just
sbt all over again. Go for it KA and get gvc on the ftse 100.

Dividends will return in time, growth is good, if you need income,
move some fresh funds into hgm.

I agree with Mylands, if Sir Kenneth wants to go after Amaya, then it would get my seal of approval. Not only that, but if we had to go another year without dividends, then the capital growth in my shares would more than compensate for that.... as it has in 2016.Trouble is, you have to sell a few at some stage.

Possibly, but with bwin performing so well and the refinancing from Nomura slashing the financing costs, maybe they will be in a position to swallow this without postponing the div. Who knows?

It would mean postponement of divi for another several months or maybe bye bye to gvc as divi stock.

Agreed, with the caveat that Kenny is not known for paying over the odds. Both his 'mega'deals have proven to be very shrewd acquisitions. I would be prepared to accept his judgement were he to join the fray, even though it's only 9 mths since the completion of the bwin deal.

We should remember that he did the SBT deal with Hills and was going to do the bwin deal with Amaya, so he knows both parties very well indeed.

Its inconceivable that GVC would go after Amaya so soon after swallowing Bwinparty. Not sure if the market would look at that favourably either. But ambitions can often impair judgement, so who knows!

I hope we don't get into an expensive auction situation if we go after Amaya.

I think the drop in the pound against dollar is overdone, it seems that the dollar is the least worst currency, hence, everybody's piling into it. If the US consider an interest rate increase, then it will make it even stronger. This would make it bad for American multi-nationals ( there earnings would drop due to higher price of their products). So those people piling into US equities for yield would be impacted,- Although I was at University in 1985, I read about the problems the strength of dollar was causing then- congress was considering protectionist measures, enter The Plaza agreement to decrease the value of the dollar.
People may suggest that UK imports will get expensive,(how expensive we don't know). But remember there's a problem of oversupply of products globally and not enough demand, so I'd expect some increase in prices but not over the top. I think the suppliers may have to adjust their prices. (One of the reasons the Russian trade sanctions haven't been effective). p.s I just got my divi in dollars $18400, from my cey holdings today,

1945 it was $4.03/£
1980 it was $2.44/£
1985 it was $1.05/£

What will it do next? As JP Morgan once said when asked what the market would do next he stepped up to the microphone in a room full of reporters all ears to hear from the great oracle he replied: "It will flucuate" and stepped down.

..and the reason is that the exchange rate data and stock prices were originally communicated between London and New York via a transatlantic cable laid under the ocean.

mylands 'the term Cable is a slang term used by forex traders to refer to the exchange rate between the pound and dollar.' Hence cable range.

Not up with your terminology 'cable range', all I know is the highest in my adult lifteime was $2.50/£ after Thatcher got in and around the current level over 30 years ago, but never down to $1/£. With what's going on with Brexit, maybe I will live to see sterling at that level, though I hope not as the cost of living will soar.

Historical cable range is about $1 to about $2.
I've seen both in my earnings and investment life!
