Looking very perky at the moment. Long may it continue.

THe £9 target is perfectly reasonable.

Brownies comments match my reading of the BWIN/Party situation.

The US mood music is key

Fingers crossed it carries on upwards. I've increased my holding in GVC now after having dumped MRW (the latter in my view a heavily over-valued stock right now). The trouble will be deciding how long to hold - long term or short once above 800p or so. Currently I am erring on long term hold.

Marshall Wace have just posted that they reduced their short holding again from 0.76% to 0.69% on Feb 7th. Down and down the short holdings go!

Partygaming and partypoker still has massive brand recognition in the US.

The US mood music also seems to be towards regulation.

Trump is a pragmatist at least. He knows there is massive illegal gambling now so why not just regulate it.

brownie69 - I would like to echo previous posts and thank you for your excellent input. That sort of information is gold dust when it comes to looking at a company.

Party Poker continues to make positive noises since change of ownership, with announcement below re John Duthie, and confirmation of live tournaments, including in North America, which should help brand.

e-mail excerpt just received below if interested:

"Hi ...

partypoker are delighted to confirm John Duthie, founder and former CEO of the EPT [European Poker Tour] has agreed a five-year deal to become President of partypoker LIVE, our new live global poker tour that was announced in January. As a player, John has over $3.2 million in live tournament winnings and won the groundbreaking inaugural Poker Million in 2000. Originally a television director, John founded the EPT in 2004 and spent eight years building the EPT into what I would say is arguably the most prestigious tour in the world.

John, now President of partypoker LIVE, said: “I have been impressed with the progress of partypoker and in particular the number of trusted, experienced and well respected individuals and organisations that have chosen to put their support behind the partypoker brand. I believe there is a gap in the market for an operator whose primary focus is poker and who will listen to, and work with, the poker community as this was something that was absolutely key to the growth and success of the EPT. I still love the game just as much as the first time I saw my first flop and I believe this passion will help partypoker LIVE become the largest and most fun poker tour in the world. I plan to enjoy myself immensely working with and meeting old friends.”

Tom Waters, MD of partypoker, said: “We are thrilled that John has joined us at the beginning of this journey. Very few people in the world have made such a significant contribution to poker and his experience, relationships and understanding of players will be a huge asset to us. Our guarantees are ambitious but our marketing strategy is to provide value to players instead of investing money outside of the poker community and we are confident that with John’s guidance we can optimise this strategy for the benefit of the live poker market. partypoker LIVE will offer a minimum of 5M GTD for 5K buy-in, 1M GTD for 1K buy-in and 500K GTD for 200 buy-in and we plan to visit as many continents and countries as possible. All events will feature at least one Online Day 1 for players who have limited time to spend away from home or simply wish to reduce their expenses. We love our holiday themed events such as the Caribbean Poker Party and are planning more of these.”

In exciting news for those of us that love playing live, partypoker LIVE has confirmed the dates for the partypoker Million Germany. The Main Event will guarantee €1 million for a €1,100 buy-in and will run June 1st – 5th at King’s Casino, Rozvadov. The following partypoker LIVE events are confirmed with more in the pipeline;

Feb 23rd -26th partypoker Grand Prix Cork [Macau Casino Club Cork] €100K GTE [€340 buy-in]

Mar 23rd -27th partypoker Million Sochi [Sochi Casino & Resort] $1M GTE [$1,100 buy-in]

Apr 6th -10th partypoker Grand Prix Austria [CCC Montesino] €500K GTE [€225 buy-in]

Apr 18th -23rd partypoker MILLIONS [Dusk Till Dawn] £6M GTE [£5,300 buy-in]

Apr 25th –May 1st partypoker Grand Prix Canada [Playground] CAD$500K GTE [CA$220 buy-in]

April 27th –May 1st partypoker Grand Prix Germany [Kings Casino] €500K GTE [€225 buy-in]

May 5th –10th partypoker Million North America [Playground] CAD$5M GTE [CAD$5,300 buy-in]

June 1st – 5th partypoker Million Germany [Kings Casino] €1M GTE [€1,100 buy-in]

With so many huge guarantees I’ll definitely be getting in on the action and hope to see a lot of you there. "

Thanks for kind comments.

On payments I didnt want to pry too much so i dont know basically.

The key message I was getting is that they know they have more to do. I could speculate and say that they have more buying power these days thus could negotiate discounts on cost.

Maybe more channels as well? its a fast moving sector.

Another company that is highly regarded in the industry is Paddy P, but their stock is just too highly priced in my (amateur) view. 888 regarded as good marketers, but key shareholders have demonstrated in the past that they are difficult people and thus not likely to be involved in big corporate deals, Too greedy as sellers and too cheap as buyers is how it was put to me. But respected as operators.

Thanks for your insights brownie much appreciated. What do you think their payments focus is concerned with? I used to attend ICE just for the payments track, very similar issues to my industry sector.
