Director Timothy Ingram has market-purchased 10,706 shares at 106.98p.

A modestly positive acclaim!

adv - that's good news! In any large organisation you'll get some who care, others who couldn't care less.

If you ever contact a call centre and don't find it helpful, try ringing again at a different time. The difference can be surprising.

Thanks for advice jonwig.
Surprisingly it is getting sorted.
Peter McHale at Greencoat has been a great help and got a nice chap from Capita to ring me and explain what had happened, and Capita also replied to my e.mail with assistance.
This all helped put pressure on Halifax Share Dealing who found the certificates they were sent (at the third attempt). The shares were sent out as though they belonged to HSD, with no info as who they should be assigned to. Seems HSD were happy just to keep them.
Just a case of getting to talk to someone who cares.
Thanks to everyone. adv

adv11 - right, so Capita sent a certificate to ...X ...

You should write to both Capita and whom you suspect 'X' to be (Halifax, I presume) asking for confirmation of posting and dates, and (Halifax) whether received.

Keep the letters brief, formal and to the point.

As I said, I've found Capita to be unhelpful up to the stage of being 'encouraged'. I can't comment on Halifax.

At some stage you'll get a resolution so don't worry.

Thanks for the help guys. My cheque was sent to Capita, and I enclosed the Crest numbers for my Halifax SD account. Greencoat-UK wind tell me that Capita sent notices of shares to the various stockbrokers without mentioning who the shares were actually for. Oh dear !

adv11 - according to the prospectus, certificates should have been sent out on 5 April.

Who did you post your cheque to? If to Halifax then they are responsible and you should initiate their complaints procedure.
Otherwise, whoever cashed your cheque is responsible.

In the event that Capita posted a certificate to you, which has got lost, you can obtain a new one, for a fee.

Capita can be very obtuse, but you can demand to know whether they posted a cheque to you.

EDIT: do it by formal letter; on the phone they'll stall.

Has everyone now received their shares, whether in certified or in their accounts ? Although my cheque was cashed a month ago, I have heard absolutely nothing. The shares should have been placed into my Halifax Share dealing account.
Halifax tell me they aren't interested - I can only deal through them by buying through them or transfering a certificate in.
Capita apparently have fulfilled all their obligations and won't talk to me.
The only help I have had is from Greencoat, but still nothing.
Looks like a case for the Mail on Sunday since they brought UK Wind to my attention.

I suspect it was a link to a competitor and automatically deleted.

Stake by Investec yesterday was another encouragement: high institutional stakes in this sort of thing will deter governments from tinkering (raiding?) with subsidies, hence more stability.

All three political parties are committed to the Green Agenda. Yes, I know it's all very artificial and manipulated, but it's important enough for the government not to renege, or they'll lose the private sector involvement they need so badly.

Yes, Honiton I remember, R Ball not - but isn't 'Honiton' still around?

Large caps yes - and Unilever has been a useful holding for the past year and more. Persimmon, too in housebuilding.

I'm not sure about 20% capital return unless you take big risk. I'm in the school which says something will go "pop" or even "POP" - though not yet.

ps I reckon you can easily best index by dumping the obvious duffers. expect 20% capital return this year. large caps offer good value.

greetings. my user name was HOniton then. I think we followed each other across to chesnara. a well run company but I could never quite figure out the business model: actuarial figures being a bit beyond me.

note comment re: hmgov.
