25/10/2012 21:36 | no price rise for 4 years, now a 9% rise sounds like a good deal to me. | rolo7
25/10/2012 18:52 | Good Energy Group PLC Good Energy announces electricity price rise Date : 24/10/2012 @ 07:00 "Good Energy, the UK's leading100% renewable electricity supplier, is raising its electricity prices by an average of 9% on 5(th) December 2012. After over four years of no electricity price rises, the change is due to a series of increases in the cost of delivering electricity to its customers...." | hedgehog 100
19/10/2012 16:32 | Godd Energy's timing of this notification looks a tad unfortunate to me. Because just four days ago I received a leaflet in the post from a competitor offering me £100 to switch to them. It was from Southern Electric, but the offer also applies to the Scottish Hydro, SWALEC and SSE brands (all members of the SSE Group). "We believe finding the best energy deal should be simple and rewarding. So when you switch to one of our fixed discount or capped rate tariffs we'll give you up to £100^ off your energy bills whether you're a new or existing customer - but act fast - this tasty offer is for a limited time only. You'll also have a choice of three easy options that all come with a saving of up to £92 per year when you choose to pay by Direct Debit and go paperless." "SSE Generation Ltd generates more renewable electricity than any other energy company in the UK. Based on installed capacity as at 31.5.10" (Chapter 5) | hedgehog 100
18/10/2012 18:50 | Just this evening received this e-mail from the company: "We wanted to let you know we're reviewing our electricity prices Over the past three years, we're really pleased to have been able to keep your electricity price stable. But we wanted to let you know that due to a series of increases in the cost of getting electricity to you, we now have to review them. We'll be making a public announcement in the next week and will write to you as soon as details become available. Please note that our gas price, which we decreased by an average of 5% in August this year, is not changing." | hedgehog 100
16/10/2012 15:19 | just been quoted 210p on Selftrade to buy! | melf
15/10/2012 14:49 | also, nice to have a banker on board?! | rolo7
14/10/2012 18:15 | Yes, bit illiquid here tho - how many can you hold really in safety? 1k moves the damn thing 3p most of the times, this will be all over the place. I'm happy to have bought when I did but not keen to add after the rise we've had - 160p would be a better reasonable price to be adding at imo. CR | cockneyrebel
13/10/2012 20:40 | Tipped in SCSW :-) Well I say tipped, they say keep an eye on them and quote a share price of 168p so I guess they went to press ahead of the recent rally. CR | cockneyrebel
09/10/2012 15:42 | Breaking out through the recent high. CR | cockneyrebel
27/9/2012 22:29 | CR full year ep will be calculated using about 9.77million shares. Seem to generate £5million cash a year in future going on 1st half numbers so not bothered to much by extra share until next year. The floatation was accompanied by a placing of 4,705,882 new Ordinary Shares at 85 pence per Ordinary Share, which based on the placing price gave it a market capitalisation of GBP10.6 million on admission. Following admission the Company had 12,522,649 Ordinary Shares in issue, which at the current (i.e. 22.8.12) market price of 112p gives it a market capitalisation of £14.025M. The interim results used 7. Earnings per share The basic average number of shares in issue for the six months to 30 June 2012 was 7,020,156 (for the six months to 30 June 2011 6,871,337 and 6,871,337 for the full year 2011). | rolo7
27/9/2012 19:57 | Well with earnings up 80% in H1 to near 9p these still look good value imo. CR | cockneyrebel
27/9/2012 19:53 | The institutions who bought in at just 85p a couple of months ago will also be glad they got some (i.e. four million quid's worth) - they've more than doubled their money already (on paper at least)! Liquidity is pretty thin: volume of 55,514 today has added £3.5 million to the market capitalisation - Price +/- Var % Volume Last close 177.50 +28.00 +18.73% 55,514 177.50 on 27-Sep-2012 The "exchange market size" is just 2,000. | hedgehog 100
27/9/2012 10:48 | anyone care to sell some shares? glad i got some of these. | rolo7
18/9/2012 20:07 | Nice to see a renewable energy company doing well for a change, after all the recent investment disasters in this sector! The growth in feed-in tariff customers looks particularly impressive ... albeit that the company don't expect this level of FIT growth to continue. "Good Energy's FIT administration services have been in considerable demand due to various government deadlines on FIT in 2012. The number of FIT customers now stands at over 39,000, an increase of 36,965 in the past 12 months. While the expectation is that growth in FIT customer numbers will now slow significantly, following the recent 31 July 2012 tariff change, the FIT administration business with its annual administration fees is important to the Group." "HOW THE TARIFFS MAKE YOU MONEY There are three separate ways that the Tariffs help you make money from generating your own energy: The Generation Tariff: You earn a fixed income for every kilowatt hour of electricity you generate whether you use yourself in your property or export it to the grid. The Export Tariff: You earn an additional fixed income for every kilowatt hour of electricity you sell back to the grid. The bit you still buy from your electricity supplier: When you can't generate enough electricity for your needs (if the wind don't blow and the sun don't shine) you still buy electricity from your utility company at the normal rates but it'll be much less electricity than you currently buy." P.S. Shammytime's recent prediction now looks a bit less ridiculous, with the sharp rise this week to 142.5p. shammytime 23 Aug'12 - 08:27 - 2 of 12 (premium) "Could see a very sharp rise this week - expecting 150p by end of week. You heard it here first ;-)" | hedgehog 100
18/9/2012 12:06 | I'm a user because although they're not the cheapest, they're the only 100% renewable electricity company in the market and that's a brand value I'm interested in. Consumers don't always go for the cheapest - they buy the brand (which is great in a highly commoditised market like electricity) and good energy has the strongest brand for this niche in the market. They're never going to be EDF or its equivalent, but they are building up a loyal customer base that isn't going to switch the next time the Daily Mail runs a rip-off Britain campaign. I'm an investor in this company because the politics of energy (renewables targets, energy security, global warming, etc) point to the economics of renewables having to be brought into line with fossil-fuel generation (or nuclear) as the majority of customers, including many on this board I'd guess, won't switch unless the offering is competitive. Unfortunately for the Government and tax-payer, that means subsidies. | bignads
18/9/2012 09:07 | Comparing their tariffs with what we pay, they seem very uncompetitive for gas and electric. I guess their chief focus must be people who are sufficiently well off and eco-friendly that they are happy to overpay to feel as though they are saving the planet. | shanklin
18/9/2012 08:58 | The EPS is pre the flotation dilution so won't look quite so good for the FY. Intriguing company nevertheless. Anyone actually use them? | wjccghcc
18/9/2012 08:55 | ...or that I had not noticed it previously | shanklin
18/9/2012 08:34 | A near doubling of earnings to 8.4p eps in H1 - fabulous growth for a PE that looks like single digit imo. Shame it's hard to buy any volume. All imo/dyor etc. CR | cockneyrebel
17/9/2012 20:37 | Good price movement today - this is a very good company and tomorrow's results should reflect that. | bignads
23/8/2012 12:17 | I understand your raised eyebrow hedge but it will happen, the grapevine has been talking but looks like nobody is listening at the moment... | shammytime |
