Mobile
Gambling set to be major driver of growth in 2006

Much hyped, m-betting has evolved slowly, with most bookmakers and betting exchange operators typically favouring a toe in the water approach. However, many now believe that the greater adoption of advanced Java handsets, coupled with the arrival of 3G, will serve as a catalyst for growth.

...See link above for full article.

Lots of competition, but cruicially GMC have contracts with NETWORK OPERATORS.

The point is whether Vodafone and Orange are promoting the GMC casinos. In practice third party providers who deal direct with their customers, but with a more active promotional campaign may do better. Clearly Vodafone and Orange is an easier route, but only if they actual promote it. Has anyone seen any significant promotion by these companies. I tried to find it on Orange World a while ago and couldn't.

A nice link to the promotion on the Orange and Vodafone websites would be reassuring if anyone can post it.

Mobile gaming is in it's infancy Paulo2, you do everything you can to build market share when something is in it's infancy....getting a lead is paramount to long term success.

Going back to the question about the Drummonds, I seem to remember it began with an en.

It's the mobile phones business, Outsider, they already have a lot of competition. Do you think those are the only two to look at mobile gambling?

Can anyone remember the name of the mobiles company that the Drummonds were involved with? I seem to remember it was floated towards the end of last year or the beginning of this.

My memory's starting to go. I do recall that I posted the RNS about it, but the bloody name escapes me now.

Adding on to previous post

If Vodaphone & Orange are doing well, would you expect them to want to shout about it? IE to get other networks launch more quickly so they have more competition?

Why shout about it if its going great?

It alerts others of a potential lucrative situation, competitors.......sometimes not always best to keep investors informed (straight away)for commercial reasons.......This isn't to say it is going great, but I wouldn't be surprised, if it's exceeding expectations. Furthermore I expect both Orange & Vodaphone have to agree to such statements.

as said previously, another mobile contract would be most welcome - but if the first two were going great guns why dont they shout about it. the silence is deafening. this is not downbeat but factual.

Sorry, my 3yr old daughter was sitting on my lap and sent the mssg off x2. Probably could pick a winning share for me tho' the way things are heading.
But what is this technical signal?? a sell is a sell isn't it?

The mobile gaming, to my mind looks the potential 'jewel in the crown' for GMC, very niche, and surely an attraction to the big boys like William Hill & Ladbrokes? No US issues in it!!!

ah ok Paulo2

Also from the interims to balance the mostly downbeat posts here:

Having secured contracts with both Orange and Vodafone
we are confident that we can deliver further network operator deals within both
the UK and Europe.

Must be HIT adding to their stake.

Or even a director's buy...

Well that announcement makes HIT the 2nd largest holder just 5m shares below Jason. At these pitiful low prices more could be mopped up which would give further credence something is up. What? I have no idea but it could range from a takeover due to loss in confidence with Board or an arrangement with the Board. Or just a quickprofit should the price ever go up and blue for a couple of days. The 13p days now seem to be a distant past and will not be attained again unless the TU is amazing.
And on that point this continual silence regarding performance (PRTY and the rest have been able to provide details post US legislation) does now seem most suspicious. Anyway 0nly 6days to go before the EGM so I guess it will all spill out then. Though a big deal would be nice but I just cannot foresee that happening now.

sabretooth, its good to see HIT picking up stock. without that support we may well be trading lower. i have reduced my over weight position as a result of the increased risk profile after US decision. not a distressed decision but a calculated one. the LTC had been in decline (down to 7p) prior to US decision. if we recover from here i still benefit and may look to trade the stock rather than hold a stake. when i entered gmc i had high hopes for the business but it appears the true winners were those who bought the opportunity at 2p.

I thought there was a trading statement due so when i saw the flag
i assumed it was that but instead it's holding news ?

Anyway it was obvious that a institution was mopping up every sale.

For Herald its not even a £1m investment but nevertheless these people know what they are doing and will have spoken to the management about the companys prospects before buying their last load of shares.

Chaps, i have been over-positioned in gmc and have taken the decision and sold-down to a token 100k shs which i will retain. a difficult decision but i can make better use of the csh elsewhere. i hope the decision proves me wrong and things improve from here, but i've lost confidence in, and question mgt's ability to take this business fwd. Again, i hope i'm proved wrong. gla
