So we now know 50% of Shale Energy is worth £10m

Coastal Oil and Gas Ltd director Gerwyn Williams said he had no plans to sell his share of the licences.

Mr Williams said his firm would continue to be the operators of the licences, with the company awaiting the outcome of five planning applications to test drill across Bridgend, Vale of Glamorgan and Rhondda Cynon Taf.

yep, still looking to see if GBR's funding of the shale drills will give an equity stake in Shale Energy rather than an "economic interest"

interestingly Shale Energy PLC was incorporated at the same time GBR came back !!!

HIGHLIGHTS
Shale Gas
RPS reports the unrisked P90 Resource Volumes of Shale Gas in the Numurian Measures on
7 Petroleum Exploration and Development Licences (PEDLs) in South Wales in which Eden
holds a 50% interest (covering a prospective area of 806 square kilometres) are:
• Volume of Gas Initially in Place (GIIP) – 34.198 TCF (Eden's share -17.099 TCF)
• Recoverable Volume – 12.799 TCF of gas (Eden's share – 6.349 TCF)
Coal Bed Methane
RISC reports that estimated Gross Contingent Resources of Coal Bed Methane contained in
the 10 PEDLs in South Wales (covering a prospective area of 247 square kilometres) in which
Eden holds an interest are:
• A 1C to 3C range of 687-1,363 BCF with a 2C estimate of 980 BCF
RISC reports that the estimated Gross unrisked Prospective Resource of Coal Bed Methane
contained in the 17 PEDLs in South Wales, Kent and Bristol Somerset (covering a prospective
area of 1068 square kilometres) in which Eden holds an interest are:
• A low to high estimate of 1,903-4,990 BCF with a best estimate of 3,088 BCF
UK Gas Market
• The UK total demand for natural gas in 2009 was equivalent to approximately 3.6 TCF.
• The UK is now a net importer of natural gas and the industrial price of natural gas in
2009 was 58% higher in the UK than in US.

FINDINGS in REPORTS
Shale Gas- RPS
RPS has reported that the 806 square kilometres of the 7 PEDLs in South Wales where the
Namurian Measures are interpreted as occurring (covering a prospective area of 806 square
kilometres) contains the following estimated gas based on the Petroleum Resource
Management System:
Unrisked P90 Resource Volume Estimates of Namurian Hosted Shale Gas:
• Volume of Gas Initially in Place (GIIP) – 34.198 TCF (Eden's share -17.099 TCF)
• Recoverable Volume – 12.799 TCF of gas (Eden's share – 6.349 TCF)
These estimates were calculated by RPS:
- after reviewing the analysis of the available drill core (from a limited number of
previous drillholes into the Namurian measures), and
- modelling across the relevant area :
- the Formation Pressure and Fracture Gradient,
- the Thermal Maturity Gradient,
- the Geochemical Calculation of Porosity in Organic Matter,
- the Calculation of Gas Content, and
- the Gas Originally in Place and Recoverable.
Coal Bed Methane - RISC
RISC has reported that the 17 PEDLs in South Wales, Kent and Bristol/Somerset in which
Eden holds an interest (covering a total area of more than 1,800 square kilometres and of which
approximately 1315 square kilometres are prospective for coal bed methane) contain the
following estimates:
Gross Contingent Resource of Coal Bed Methane in the 10 PEDLs in South Wales (covering
a prospective area of 247 square kilometres) in which Eden holds an interest:
• A 1C to 3C range of 687-1,363 BCF with a 2C estimate of 980 BCF
Gross Unrisked (P90) Prospective Resources of Coal Bed Methane contained in the 17
PEDLs in South Wales, Kent and Bristol Somerset (covering a prospective area of 1068 square
kilometres) in which Eden holds an interest are:
• A low to high estimate of 1903- 4,990 BCF with a best estimate of 3,088 BCF
RISC compiled these resource estimates based on the SPE PRMS definitions and guidelines. In
doing so:
- the coal resources in all areas were estimated after adjusting for urban, mined out and
restricted access areas,

£600K m cap. offers serious upside if they get approached as well.

Coastal Oil & Gas initially submitted a planning application to test drill for shale gas in Llandow; following local opposition, the company pulled the application in April 2011. However, in late August 2011, they resubmitted the bid.
Coastal are also keen to conduct test drills on land in its Kent licenses, in fields near Sandwich, and submitted a planning application in April 2011 which is still awaiting a decision.

The market is going crazy, trying to get into shale gas, GBR now has exposure through 17 licences..

GEF has a framework financing agreement ("Framework Agreement") with Coastal Oil and Gas Limited and UK Methane Limited (together, the "Gas Companies"). The Gas Companies have an ownership interest in 17 petroleum exploration development licenses in South Wales, Bristol and Kent with the right to explore and drill for shale gas in the licence areas. Under the Framework Agreement, the Gas Companies have appointed GEF, on a non-exclusive basis, to co-invest by financing their exploration and development operations. In consideration for this co-investment, GEF will receive an economic interest commensurate with the proportion of drilling expenses covered through the funding received from GEF.

Coastal Oil & Gas Limited targets overlooked, often challenging, resources with the potential for transformation through the application of both proven and emerging technologies.

The company has acquired an initial portfolio of production, development, appraisal and exploration assets with significant growth potential. Initial production comes from Coastal's interest in the Avington field in Hampshire. In addition, Coastal has interests in the Waddock Cross appraisal project in Dorset and the Formby redevelopment outside Liverpool.

Coastal Oil & Gas Limited holds interests in two contiguous exploration blocks in Dorset, considered by many to be amongst the most prospective onshore exploration acreage in the UK, targeting analogues to Wytch Farm.

We are also active in unconventional resources; holding the only pure oil zone acreage in the "BOWLAND SHALE" play in the West Lancashire Basin.

Mr Solomon said the firm would probably use the gas beneath South Wales to either produce electricity or put directly into the natural gas grid as compressed natural gas (CNG).

He said there would be a “very large amount” of investment into South Wales during the exploration and development stage and in the running and supplying of the gas.

A spokesman for Coastal Oil and Gas Limited attempted to downplay the report, but did admit: “It exceeds our expectations. It’s big, very big, but we still need more information.”

Shale gas rush: the fracking companies hoping to strike it rich

With only one major player in the UK's fracking industry, it has been left to smaller, less well-known companies to make inroads

Take Gerwyn Williams, a serial Welsh energy entrepreneur based in Bridgend. Companies house shows he has 18 current directorships has resigned from a further 17 boards and been a director of seven companies which have been dissolved. One of his companies, Coastal Oil and Gas, is owned by Thistle Gas which is owned by UK Onshore Gas. This company, in turn, owns UK Methane, which is looking to explore for shale gas in the Welsh valleys and near Bath.

Some of Williams's companies have offshore investors but one small investor is a company called Sigma Exploration. It has a director named John Killer, based in Beccles near Norwich. Killer has been around energy companies for many years.

Indeed he and Williams both sat on the board of Seven Star Natural Gas until it was sold to the AIM-listed Alkane in 2011. Alkane insists it is not interested in shale gas. Whether it will be drawn into that arena remains to be seen. As a profitable listed company it is in a strong position to pick up smaller energy companies which do not have the resources to fund expensive development costs.

Can't be long now.

Pity, as if the key metric of a company's success was the number of times it issued warrants and changed its share capital structure rather than concentrating on running a pizza business, then GBR would have been a sure-fire winner.
