$500m savings, margins 2022 around 20% to high 20's. I think GSK got the better deal here.

NY Boy - "Now I think I should of added a few at 1425p doh!"

Exactly my thoughts also. Oh well, think I'll wait a few days/weeks there's bound to be some bad news about BREXIT to push it down a wee bit :-)

If you have CNBC Walsmley on 12pm London time, first interview on deal. Yanks will be buying 2.30pm.

Looked more into it, GSK great deal 1750p here we come. Walsmley on CNBC 30 minutes time, first interview. 80p dividend at least for 2019, then looks like could be increased, yippee. This deal is the transforming deal GSK been looking for.

Reminds me of the chicken and the pig, one day chicken says to pig, eggs and bacon for breakfast selling very well, lets merge, pig says great we will both make a fortune.
Then pig suddenly thinks and says to chicken, hang on all you do is lay the eggs everyday, I get carved up. Thats why I called it merge not a takeover, said chicken, you would of not of agreed. GSK are they the pig in the story. 80p dividend ok for 2019 CEO said.

"With our future intention to separate, the transaction also presents a clear pathway forward for GSK to create a new global pharmaceuticals/vaccines company, with an R&D approach focused on science related to the immune system, use of genetics and advanced technologies, and a new world-leading consumer health care company," Chief Executive Emma Walmsley said.

Had a look, not sure, how this will go. Market seems to like it, as long as the 80p dividend safe.

Market likes this deal but not a fan myself.

If GSK splits up into separate parts(to release some value one assumes) then it loses it's defensiveness imo. The divisions operate well alongside each other, proving balance when one division has a downturn. This is why Andrew Witty was reluctant to split it up.

Once GSK splits, Consumer Divi JV and Pharmaceutical division(potentially getting acquired) where are wetoturn for a high dividend yielding defensive UK pharmaceutical company?

Shire never had a decent yield and has been bought by Takeda
Astra Zeneca yield isnt anything to write home about.

What will GSK high yield investors do? Anyone looked into suitable drug company replacements?

Buy Pfizer when this happens?
