10/12/2003 14:04 | US dairy prices rise strongly in November • The upward momentum in US dairy product prices continued in November. Casein prices (Kerry and Glanbia are exporters to the US) in the month rose by 19.4%; for the three months to end-November prices rose by 16.8% yoy. Prices for lactose and products derived from whey (WPC, produced in the US by Glanbia) rose by 28% and 10% yoy respectively; the average yoy price rise over the past three months was 28.5% and 9.9% respectively. • While the cheese price softened in the month compared to the highs of the August-October period, it still showed a yoy rise of 9.6% in November. • Over past six months prices have rebounded from the depressed levels of the first six months.
