Looks like this may be the start of an uptrend!

wad,
Yes strange and inviting chart.
Now within its 2006 "channel".
Just a minor point: it was not Ireland's who tipped but their "Private View" columnist, john Lee, who hjas been recommending this co. as a possible takeover candidate for some months.

What a strange looking chart over the last 6 months - tempting to trade on the shape of it , am tempted to do some quick trades.Pity about the spread.
WHIreland tipped it last week, though not that strongly.

Unusual activity - contra trading. Perhaps suggests a big T Buy or whispers.

Don't really understand the motivation for the share price rise, but it's a pleasant relief.

It makes little difference anyway seems you put the same information with a slightly different twist.

The only shares you could reasonably be expected to get hold of were the non-voting ones but the family controlled all the voting ones.

Then there wouldnt be a bid with the old share structure and little reason for institutions to buy.

very nervy My information is different to yours.
The share structure was changed because one of the family wanted to cash in his chips. Institutions were not prepared to buy his shares unless the share structure was changed

Having watched the films many times I can now see him saying it.

Agreed re gibbs and there is also the takeover angle - thats one of the reasons the share structure was change a while ago and it immediately led to instituyional buying

VN,

I'm showing my age. It's a quote from a Clint Eastwood classic, where detective Harry Callaghan has pursued a hood; the hood is wondering whether he should reach for his gun and is trying to recall how many shots 'Dirty Harry' has fired .... harry says 'Are you feeling lucky punk.....' i.e. are you willing to take the gamble, given the knowledge/info available.

Anyway, back to business, yesterday I was not feeling lucky here and as a result chose not to top-up. As it happens, my guess was right, the results are not good - as you say @ the lower end.

I envisage a return to the 300p level and will wait for a suitable oppo; I still like GDYO and see current performance more as a reflection of the flat market sector rather than their performance.

space..

"are you feeling lucky punk?"

If I understood what it meant I would say but as I dont I cant!!

Results at the lower end of expectations and this year looks likem being much the same - didnt buy more as the odds against better than expected were high!

I continue to watch - are you feeling lucky punk?????????????????????????

Good point. It'll be interesting to see the share price movement as Mar 10 approaches - are you feeling lucky punk?

Couple of 10K sells earlier - very suprised if we don't fall below 360p for now. What we need is some good news to reflect GDYO's prudent management and its ability to thrive even in tough times.

T'would be a shame to drop below the 380 level and outside our upward trend envelope.

Albeit pleasant, can't really see a reason for yesterday's upward blip - anyone know?

VN,

Think you're right - quite a nice mild upward trend for the last four months or so. The last results were pretty downbeat about outlook, despite attempting to apply a positive gloss to GDYO's on their strategy - an update could really help, particularly given the current bullish Market.

Think the occasional nibbles are possibly others in the sector`s results having an influence or those who think it might go up soon.

When the turn comes it should appreciate rapidly, but untill then in the bottem draw collecting a well covered div is the way!!

Noticed a few tiny Buy nibbles today - perhaps a support approaching.

Have followed and admired GDYO for a while now; however, I don't understand the recent share price recovery - what is it's basis? Many signs from the market are lukewarm, a fact that I would have thought likely to steer it downwards. I do appreciate that GDYO's modest size and recent acquisitions are virtuous, together with their close management of operations and cash flow - however, I don't see these as sufficient to counteract the negative reflected unglory of the sector.

Should we see promising RNSs or an upbeat TS or results I could understand the share sustaining this level and would happily top-up, but at the moment all I can envisage is jumping at shadows i.e. a modest rise signals a few investors to climb aboard, with a turnaround soon after as people become nervous as key levels are approached.

I can see this drifting back towards the 350s, albeit it with great potential to rise to 450s should we have substance upon which to build. My holding will meanwhile sit firmly in the bottom drawer.

now let me see

PE 10.6 dive 3.9%approx share price down from 496 in a year

had hard times - signs of housing market improving and some buying!

Is this a tip or investors thinking along the same lines as me??

Does anyone have any idea of customer buying in stores of late??
