Not the best time to buy this type of share but it had dropped enough to make a good long term hold untill its market improves!

Has a long history of good growth and has good managemnet

VERYNERVY = I recall our meeting on, I think, the LGEN thread. I hope GDYO is going to do reasonably well.

Thought I`d top up and then of course it went down, very happy now but this was always a very well run company growing little by little just badly affected by the slow down in consumer spending.

However, I am happy to hold as when people realise they arnt going to move they will start spending more on their homes - i hope!

Heading up again.

Wig..,

That's the way it goes. Believe it or not, I had this earmarked as a source of funds for another share that I was tracking last Friday - fortunately for me, the other one didn't hit my target. It's the luck of the draw sometimes. If your decision was right at that time, I wouldn't beat yourself up over it.

Just about to break the 390p level - truly a rtemarkable recovery. Perhaps to be renamed Gibbs, Dandy and Lazarus?

Nice leap upwards on the way - presumably a substantial buy.

What a nice sight to open up to - things have certainly changed in the last couple of weeks.

Interesting to read today's article on Travis P in IC - basically reaffirms the TP business as stable and open to significant improvement when consumer spending recovers. Furthermore, many of its recent problems are firmly layed at the door of the Wickes acquisition. I can envisage positive knock-on for GDYO from this - especially the complimentary view of GDYO as a compact well run business with an eye to managing stock etc.. to suit the climate (economic).

Something significant appears to be brewing this morning - uncharacteristic share price rise without trading volume justification.

Interesting to see the net effect of the results that although were reporting reduced profits and effects of potential housing downturn i.e. zilch presently following the initial clear-out. I suspect that the share price may retrace again, although not by much - GDYO seem, presumably due to their 'family' interests and manageable size, to be well managed and reacting strategically to the down turn, whilst maintaining an eye to the future.

yup - the change in share structure led institutions to stock up at £3 so it would have been vary unlikey to fall below that.

nice div with a good rise to come in share price medium to long term

Hmmm. Looks like 350 might be hit somewhat quicker than I thought!

Well I took out a small upbet on them yesterday, does that count?

Seriously though, I think I'm not the only one who has been watching this for ages, seing it fall below its fair value, and then wait for the bounce before moving in, Hopefully now the buying pressure will be sustained for a longer run back up at least to 350.

This share is falling due to the results from travis perkins and the conclusion by some small investors that this company will produce equally bad results.

The sector is undoubtedly under pressure and further falls in the share price would not come as a surprise, however, when/if consumers return to DIY then the valuation will be very low!

I will be buying at 300 as this would be a bargain for the future and be putting in sipp!
