Ditching mines to make a mint - Hugo Duncan

It's all change at Aurum – and at 5.12p, now could be the time to get in.

New chairman David Williams, who turned building materials group Breedon into a £1billion company, has outlined plans to sell Aurum's gold and tungsten mining assets and shift into cybersecurity, changing the company's name to Shearwater in the process.

Williams has assembled a board including former Airbus UK boss Robin Southwell and Stephen Ball, former head of Lockheed Martin in the UK.

Aurum's new chief executive Mo Stevens is the former head of the cybersecurity business at Airbus.

The company now plans to acquire or take stakes in small cyber businesses and turn these minnows into major players.

An investment in Aurum/Shearwater is not without risks. But the management team looks worth a punt.

I wonder whether they will give a 4 month update or a 2 month update like last year.Revenue in July and August was 86% mostly due to exceptional growth in Europe following the £s devaluation.I think inventory with G4m is 90 days so I suspect the effect was relatively short lived before g4m had to set higher selling prices. I think pp also mentioned this slightly mitigated by exchange rate fluctuations between the dollar and yuan

Nevertoolate - last year sales in Nov and Dec were 28% of annual sales, to suggest that this year they could reach 1/3 is not so absurd given they are rapidly growing especially in Europe

Don't think that is the case. For the 6 months ending August 31st the Revenue was up by 73% compared to the same period 12 months earlier and the gross profit was up 74% suggesting that this is a very sound business.
Sales probably increased over the Christmas period as with most businesses but to suggest that 1/3 of annual sales are in the 2 months leading up to Xmas is just nonsense.

I would argue that a lot of those website hits come from musicians needing accessories for example: strings, or a new reed or perhaps a Mic. It's a very busy time for bands up to and including new years eve.

Will Blue Prism Group plc be the next ARM Holdings after today’s profit upgrades?

Robotic process automation (RPA) specialist Blue Prism (LSE: PRSM) has released an excellent trading update today. It shows that the company expects to report financial performance for the year to 31 October which is comfortably ahead of previous expectations. As a result, its shares have risen by over 10% today. Could it become a major UK technology company, thereby becoming the next ARM Holdings?

Blue Prism’s momentum in the first three quarters of the year continued into the final quarter. It achieved strong new business wins, with 39 customers won in the fourth quarter of the year. This takes its total customer base to 153 versus 57 at the same point last year. Blue Prism has been successful at upselling products and services to existing customers, while its channel partner ecosystem has continued to gain traction.

Blue Prism has brought forward investments that were previously scheduled for 2017 into the second half of 2016. Alongside greater investment in growing its US sales team, this provides it with a bright long-term outlook. In fact, the RPA market continues to demonstrate encouraging signs of rapid growth. With Blue Prism having a sound balance sheet with £11.8m of net cash, it’s in a strong position to capitalise on long-term growth trends.

The daily website hits on Alexa have held up really well considering its 3 days before Xmas and most will have finished shopping especially as delivery is 5-10 days unless you pay extra for quick delivery.38000 hits a day now. It was 39000 on 24th November, the day before Black Friday surging to around 50000 then very slowly easing to about 44000 through Dec
