LONDON, Nov. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Three British troops have been killed and others injured in an attack in central Iraq, British Armed Forces Minister Adam Ingram confirmed on Thursday. "I very much regret that I can confirm to the House that in an attack on British forces in the Black Watch area of operations we have suffered a number of casualties including three fatalities," Ingram told the House of Commons, lower house of the parliament. "US forces helped to provide urgent medical support at the scene of the incident, something for which I know our forces are grateful," Ingram told the lawmakers, adding that it was it was difficult to immediately establish a clear picture of events and precise details of what happened. The deaths bring the total number of British troops killed in Iraq to 73 since the US-led war against Iraq broke out in March 2003. The 850-strong force led by the Black Watch have been attacked repeatedly since last Friday when they arrived at Camp Dogwood, a base about 25 km from Baghdad. The troops were controversially redeployed from southern Iraq to the US-controlled area following a US request. Reports said the British troops were relocated from the Britishcontrolled sector of southern Iraq to relieve US troops expected to take part in a major assault on the city of Fallujah. Critics in Britain suggested the redeployment dragged Britain deeper into the turmoil of post-war Iraq and was part of politicalmaneuvering by the US government during their campaign for re-election. Iraq... what went wrong (although i must confess that i haven't had time to read it all) The Strategy to Secure Iraq Did Not Foresee a 2nd War By Michael R. Gordon The New York Times Tuesday 19 October 2004 http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/102004E.shtml . . To help bring stability and allow the Americans to exit, President Bush had reviewed a plan the day before seeking four foreign divisions - including Arab and NATO troops - to take on peacekeeping duties. . . Within a few months, though, the Bush administration's optimistic assumptions had been upended. Many of the foreign troops never came. The Iraqi institutions expected to help run the country collapsed. The adversary that was supposed to have been shocked and awed into submission was reorganizing beyond the reach of overstretched American troops.

There are suggestions that it may rankle with the Americans that they are having to bear the brunt of the war - 90 per cent of the cost and 90 per cent of the casualties, according to John Kerry, the Democrat contender. Only 68 British soldiers have been killed against 1,065 Americans, and Blair may be expected to ingratiate himself with Bush and demonstrate his loyalty as America's most trusted ally by narrowing the gap.

MONDAY... 10 March It looks as if we are header for a large OPENING GAP ... Finspreads shows: Wall St.-Mar: 7677-7686 -54. S+P500-Mar: 822.5-823.5 -5.6 ... Normally gaps get filled, usually in the first 30-60 minutes. Will this happen again, or be an exception? ... Reasons it may prove an exception: 1) This is a Monday move, which I believe are less likely to get filled. 2) It comes after an apparent a-b-c move into Friday's close. 3) It closed very near the Upper Bolly on the 15min. SPX chart, .. And the AfterHrs SPX price is now below support at mid-Bolly, .. and from the 12period MA 4) The wave count suggests a 3-of-3-etc. could be launched from here ...more...?? ...any news?...

From RAPTORS DEN ... From: GrillSgt / Friday, Mar 7, 2003 12:24 PM Respond to of 8567 Today is confirmed day 7 of downcycle with confirmation of close sub 1303 yesterday. Today should have marked mid-cycle lows (close basis) before we did a Monday bounce and I expected a gap down that filled before a bounce back up for a day or two followed by smack down into end the cycle. This reminds me of the anthrax scare period..news driven with everyone scratching their heads. Regarding NQ..that break back up over 976 could bring 989 and 997 but I damned sure wouldn't be chasing them up there. Couple of gap facts: Gap rule predicted move lower but didn't predict news. If these sized gaps do not fill by the end of the first hour than only 4% of all fill after that (3 years worth data). 62% of all gaps between 1-2% fill by end of first hour.

Gap trading, from Hard Right edge: http://www.hardrightedge.com/wheel/hregaps2.htm (excerpt): Use the continuation gap to target major reversals. The first test usually occurs after closure of the exhaustion gap. But you can't trade it if you can't find it, so here's a trick: Wait until you can count three price moves, up or down. Then place a Fibonacci grid across the entire trend and look for a continuation gap at the 50% level. If you find one, place a limit order within the gap and wait for a test to occur. The retracement should provide enough support or resistance to force a reversal. Once the gap is filled, place a trailing stop and keep it close behind current price action.

KEY SUPPORT SHOULD BREAK TODAY... leading to a test of October Lows This could/should happen with a GAP down opening today. And it is possible that a gap on the break of such important support will NOT be filled (i.e. it could be a "breakout gap") Historical Chart suggests a fall to 6000-ish I am short (& smiling -so far) but I have learned that gaps often signal reversals (if only brief ones. So what to do today? If the gap is Large enough, I will cover some shorts. My current covering target is 80-100 points. COMMENTS?
