It might in the P & L but not in the cash flow!
There has been very little movement in the bank debt situation for some years.

If the Profit after tax improves as expected I would expect a similar improvement in the net debt situation but it has been implied by management that all cash resources would be used to grow the business through extra staff.

Linhur,

With respect this is the poorest of attempts at a deramp that I have seen in a long time. You only have to check the Financials of GAR to see that the improvement in GAR's trading goes straight to the bottom line!

Why would there be "a giant step forward for GAR's balance sheet" ?

Previous results have not shown a large positive cash flow as the extra profits have been eaten up by increases in working capital and particularly debtors who may or may not pay in the current climate.

Linhur

20 trading days and then we will see if GAR has beaten MP - stand by for a giant step forward for GAR's balance sheet. Also, expect to see an upbeat message regarding GAR's prospects.

For all of us that have been in since Upton&Southern days it will be just reward for our patience.

I am glad to say I took advantage of the recent buying opportunity to add a few more...

BODES WELL FOR US, I THINK....Profits soared 52% to a new record at Michael Page in 2007, in line with forecasts, leaving the specialist recruitment company confident about prospects for the group.

4screws,

I stand by my statement in October. We have seen a substantial stake builder, and, director buys. Now that we are just weeks from the next set of results we have seen the share price start to rise.

I reckon it will be another good set of results that will demonstrate that Garner is firmly on the road to recovery. Markets like recovery stocks. I reckon we will stand a good chance of a 20p intraday peak (similar to the last one).

There will always be sellers - I see it as an opportunity to relieve them of their stock.

Small amounts of stock are having a disproportionate affect on the sp, however, this will work to our advantage as:

1. we move ever closer to the next set of results
2. there is further news on stake building
3. there is further news of Director buying

In short, any positive news (anticipated or actual) will inevitably lead to buying activity and the share price will move upwards like a knife through soft butter.

Any current weakness in the share price will be short term and could be viewed as an opportunity.

sniffer333, I think the drop today was actually a good thing, I suspect the large rise yesterday was a way of pulling people in, but today as it started to drop, short term investors flew the nest, in that way the mm's get more stock what do you think.

Stock up again.I have been saying for about a year that stock is scarce in this company. The 2 buys this morning have taken it up 8%.As we move closer to the results and any subsequent newsflow will catapult this stock. No not a ramp just plain commonsense when you see what little volume is being traded.
Roy Stanley and 2 directors have been mopping up stock until it went into the closed period.People have been 2 focussed on the debt. This really now is the prefs which is non interest bearing. If a deal can be done here the company will really motor when it becomes balance sheet positive.A strong buy imho.
Remember also the share options. If they are realised this year that will knock another 100k off the debt.

4screws,

Thanks for your comments; I'm pretty much in agreement with everything you've said! The one thing I would add, if you look at the historic price chart, on the run up to the last two sets of results, the price surge's when only a small amount of shares change hands & then tends to gradually fall back over the following months.... Due to the liquidity of the shares, you could potentially take advantage of the peaks & troughs, rather than holding tight, however there is always the risk of missing out on something unexpected.... Saying that I didn't expect to be able to get back in this time @ 4.75 - 5p, I thought it would fall back to 6.5 - 7p. I'm assuming we have the credit crunch to thank for that! Good Luck!!!

winston, having been in since upton ans outhern and at one time having 8 million before consolidation, then watching them crash again, based on buying by directors, and last results, I think this will climb to a new bar of at least 9p, this is not a ramp this is based on what I have seen and how this comopany has improved and also due to the increase in staff. I know we still have balance sheet issues but to me these are historical and as long as GAR is trading well, as it appears then this can only go up from her in my opinion, but I have been caught out with the 32% rise and would have liked to get more, however if it does dip from here, then i am in for more. Hope that helps.

4screws,

I've been in and out of these over the last few years, first bought in back in Constellation days, they certainly seem to have turned the corner now and are doing well! I'm back in for the run up to results at this stage....

Where do you think this could go in the longer term?

winson270, am now sitting on 150000 and will wait for another dip to add. I have been here for many years now and I believe that the fact that the share price in itselh has generally found a level is a sign that the market has seen the improvement that GAR have made. Goood luck,

4screws,

I bought a couple of smaller batches at 4.75p prior to the latest batch all @ 5p, so now own 70,000, doing pretty well so far, didn't expect the last order to be filled when I saw how much the price had risen!

I noticed Garner had dropped back to similar levels I bought in at July 07 for the pre-results surge, I've bought back in on the hope of some similar action this time round. Due to the high number of shares that are tightly held by directors etc. The slightest bit of demand for these shares & they rocket, Friday's rise was a good example with only 177,000 changing hands....

winston what made you decide to buy 50,000 as their has not been a lot of activity here for sometime.
