My concern here is that EMAP which enjoys a PE of circa 23 can make an offer with their paper and see no earnings dilution in view of FNET present and projected earnings recovery and it's continuing growth prospects. There may be other potential suitors from the US but EMAP could be a better home IF they are running their eyes over it. Have no idea but in any case expect to see good news in September figures and beyond with the company's usual caveat over the importance of the 4Q into Christmas. The trend and solid base of good revenues will influence whether the shares rise any further....they appear fairly firm at present. (Famous last words...probably nose-dive now!!). Still overall believe FNET is now a safe hold.

Interesting to see late T Trades yesterday and today.....so someone (or more) parties want to pick-up size...the one today was 100,000 at 66p after yesterday's 68p. Any ideas or has the upside momentum stalled until the results or EMAP or another potential bidder make a move...time and patience will tell.

Another little tick upwards today, to close equal to the previous double top. Another penny on the price and this will be recognised as a blue sky breakout - then I'll buy some more.

Is the interest purely based on excellent fundamentals and/or a trade buyer?
Appears that there is steady buying interest and perhaps a lack of stock available....ie. holders sense good reason to sit tight. I may be wrong...but Future looks more promising!!

Topped up today. Volume needs to pick up to confirm this upside breakout. Perhaps some news over the weekend will produce higher volume early next week.

I wonder if EMAP or ANOther are checking this name over as prospects look more encouraging after earlier mistakes. The management appears to be more focussed and they obviously have a very strong creative team. Outlook for the shares looks encouraging as as hatman suggests we have broken-out of the recent 60-65p range. I also like these single protected trades over recent days at above the then offered price. Results are in September and should be good after 10/7 preliminary announcement as to 5 months of 2003 trading....however, company cautions over importance of final quarter. Still, personally believe that trend in demand will continue to grow. DYOR

Jumped on board today with an initial nibble of 20,000 shares. The chart pattern has popped up on my weekly analysis of shares, using a series of exponential moving averages. Medium to longer term, resistance at 60/65 appears to have been broken, opening up the possibility of a blue sky breakout. Will add more if current momentum accelerates.

Thought the MM's pricing structure was a bit rich this morning on the offer side but now looks better....price looks fairly solid and holders likely to stay with company in medium term as prospects from recent company statement were basically quite encouraging. The prospect of a move by EMAP is in for free, but IMO the shares should go higher on fundamentals with an ever improving backdrop to parts of the markets where actual earnings improvements are being looked for. Perhaps investors will focus more on FNET nearer the results in mid September.

One would have expected a better response!

LONDON (AFX) - Future Network PLC said the performance of its magazine
portfolio is progressing well, with both revenues and operating profit ahead of
last year for the first five months and in line with internal expectations.
However, shareholders are reminded of the importance of the second half of
the year, particularly the fourth quarter, said the company in a trading
statement.
Circulation revenue, which in 2002 accounted for 68 pct of group revenues,
was up 8 pct in the first five months of 2003.
Advertising revenues was up 5 pct and total revenue was up 7 pct against the
same period in 2002.
Revenue performance by sector for the first five months shows year-on-year
growth of 13 pct for computer games, 2 pct for computing, and 2 pct for
entertainment magazine titles, said the company.
Performance in the UK magazine business is "satisfacty", with revenue growth
of 4 pct, while computer games revenues have shown the strongest growth at 8
pct.
Mainland European operations are expected to show a small operating profit
for the first half, said the company.
Turning to its US business, revenue has increased 8 pct (in sterling terms)
in the first five months of 2003.
"Each of the magazines published in the US is performing better than last
year," said the company.
The company will announce results for the half-year to June 30 on Sept 16
2003, it said.

Citywire:

* Future Network (FNET) specialises in video games magazine publishing, which has benefited from the continuing popularity of games consoles. This helped it to announce a maiden profit last month but chief executive Greg Ingham has taken the chance to bank some profits from his holding in the £155 million company.

On Wednesday Ingham transferred 317,826 shares into the name of his wife Jane who sold the lot on Thursday at 47p per share, banking a little less than £150,000. However Ingham still has a hefty 4 million shares, equivalent to 1.26% of Future Network.

Despite Ingham's sale the shares added 1.75p yesterday to close at 50p as it recovers slowly from a recent slide to a low of 47.5p having begun the year at a high of 57p.

Last year Future Network made a pre-tax profit of £10.7 million, its first profit since floating in 1999. The turnaround was impressive from a £121 million loss the previous year especially considering it came in a year when advertising revenues were flat for many publishers.

Future Network holds worldwide rights, apart from Japan, for authorised magazines for the Sony PlayStation 2 and Microsoft Xbox.

Didn't notice this yesterday. Nothing to worry about IMO.

LONDON (AFX) - Future Network PLC said chief executive Greg Ingham has
reduced his holding in the company to 1.26 pct, or 4.04 mln shares, via the
transfer of 317,826 shares to his wife and their subsequent sale at 47 pence
each.

Improved results from Highbury House (HHO) today show that this
sector may be on the turn. Positive write up on Citywire.com for
both FNET and HHO! Both look like a very strong hold over the
coming year. Regards, Foz.
