06/2/2017 07:57 | They've announced this morning that the third franchise involves a movie IP license. I have to say that i didn't see that coming but it sounds great! Should be very commercial and also demonstrates their confidence in being able to commit to such a model. More details later this year and revenue generating from 2018 as previously stated by management. Very encouraging. GLA | makw61
30/1/2017 15:13 | Took my eye off this. Wasn't news due in January related to new game? | p1nkfish
22/1/2017 16:11 | GI, I've subscribed to the Investors Chronicle print edition for a lot of years. It caters to a range of investors from novice to more experienced and its coverage reflects that i.e. broad rather than detailed and covers funds as well as individual shares. The companies section is mainly driven around interim and full year results so there will be an update on FDEV on Friday 10th Feb, or possibly the following Friday depending on their print deadlines. Coverage is generally one-third of a page per company so it's not very in-depth tbh. having said that, it still enjoys a decent readership so a buy recommendation does tend to move the share price. They will sometimes update tips between results but this is only a single paragraph typically. Beyond the Chronicle, investors in smaller caps are not well served in the UK in either print or online media. I'm not a big fan of share prophets for various reasons. As an aside, I think it's a good move by management to discount PC by 15% to keep up interest. It always amazes me how price sensitive demand is; £4.50 isn't a massive saving but it seems to have pushed it right back near the top of the Steam charts. GLA | makw61
22/1/2017 13:22 | Thanks MW. Does anyone here subscribe to InvestorsChronicle and is there any way to get them to refresh their Fdev analysis? | thegaminginvestor
22/1/2017 11:07 | Hi bamboo2, I actually sold some close to the previous high some time ago, but recently added again at £2.10.I'm happy to sit and hold now and if we drop away again I'll probably add a few more.I think (hope) that at some point FDEV will reach an inflexion point that will be accompanied by a wider recognition and significantly higher valuation. We will see! | hastings
21/1/2017 13:15 | hastings, I also sold at 300. Started buying back in yesterdsay at 282. Hoping we will see 280 hold. | bamboo2
21/1/2017 12:52 | There are 2 or 3 nationwide magazine publications. By far the oldest and most respected is Investors Chronicle, same owners as the Financial Times. It does plenty of analysis on micro/small caps. As it happens I think its got a current buy recommendation on FDEV. Its subscription only. But older articles are free see link above. Of-cause there are many on-line tipping sites. One of most influential and read is hxxp://www.shareprop Hope this helps. | mathewawood
21/1/2017 12:12 | Is is great that Hastings writes about the company. I was more referring to if there is any nationwide financial publication writing about stocks or small cap stocks. | thegaminginvestor
21/1/2017 11:16 | Cheers for that mathewawood and glad my scribbling's have been of some use. As you say, I have covered FDEV for a few years now in my column and also visited a few times too. My first penned piece was back in late 2013 which came after the shares for some inexplicable reason slumped from £1.15p to 93p in one day. I had actually been monitoring the stock for a while and on the day in question put a call into the company to get a feel for the business and ask the inevitable question as to whether there was an imminent update in offing. As it transpired, all was well with the business, which saw one of the Directors make the most of the share price slump by picking up circa 80k shares on the day. My own maiden purchase was somewhat more modest, although having been struck at 95p has since served me well and although having taken some off the table at the £3.00 level,I continue to hold and am looking for more considerable longer term upside. For anyone else that may fancy a look at my more recent coverage which will be updated next month (Interim's) links below. | hastings
20/1/2017 20:35 | HI GI. Look no further then the posts by hastings right here on this forum. He's been writing in the Cambridge news for a number of years about this company. That's how I got to hear about its potential. | mathewawood
19/1/2017 21:29 | Aren't there any UK online or offline media writing about micro cap stocks like FDEV? If FDEV had been a Swedish company there would have been weekly articles about it here similar to Paradox, THQ and Starbreeze. | thegaminginvestor
17/1/2017 22:56 | David Braben wanted to do an open-world style RPG when they developed The Outsider. I think the next franchise will be in line with the idea behind The Outsider and incorporate some of the game mechanics of Elite. Like a mix between a Tom Clancy game and GTA or a modern day Deus Ex/Witcher. | thegaminginvestor
17/1/2017 19:58 | Talking of talent, Sony's decision to close down the Guerrilla studios on the Science Park could work out very well for Frontier at a time it is looking to recruit ever more, talented people. | hastings
17/1/2017 18:48 | Planet Safari would be a new game I suspect. This is consistent with stated business model of new franchise each year. But note this plan has evolved with time. Initial successful ED release was followed by "work in progress" ED Horizon Season. However Horizons is only now really taking shape (which is good news for PS4 release). Initial impressions were not so good - technically excellent but little gameplay, hence the mixed Steam reviews and share price dip at that time. Originally it looked like they were working to a yearly ED Season model but Horizons experience taught FDEV a few lessons and they have stated the Season model is changing. I Suspect future ED content will be completed (not Work In Progress) DLC packs at a lower price point. Bottom line for me is FDEV have lots of talent and produce quality games. | ck1111
16/1/2017 17:44 | I hope its a new genre as to diversify. An RPG? Rewamp this ol' project https://youtu.be/Glr | thegaminginvestor
16/1/2017 15:09 | My take too TheGaminginvestor.I visited this morning and should have got the bike out, very hard to find a parking spot!Anyway, I've penned a piece that may or may not be of interest which I'll pop up later. | hastings
16/1/2017 14:59 | The company has previously indicated that they want to start earning money on a 3rd franchise already in 2018 so I am pretty sure the development costs are related to that third franchise.I am guessing we will see a trailer in a not to distant future as it will be difficult for them to report high development costs in the H1 report for an unnamed project. If it is a cross platform game from the start shares should really take off.It would be pretty cool if they did an ARG reveal around the third franchise in ED or PC or both combined. | thegaminginvestor
16/1/2017 11:47 | Agreed makw61. PC good as expected and Ed slightly disappointing. Overall 66% increase in revenues when 2nd game only out for 2 weeks of half is pretty good!! Cash down slightly but that is explained by 30 days terms from Steam, they get paid 30 days later meaning that debtors will be very high at end of half with 14 days or c300,000 sales of PC not yet banked. Revenues/results for full year will be driven by PS4 launch but can assume revenues will be up nearer 100% to near £40m before this, reflecting 6 1/2 months of new game. Underlying cash/profits should be c£15m as discussed before. Results are out in early February and it will be interesting to hear what the increased development is - could be new game underway? The comment of lots of PC releases planned for 2017 and beyond bodes very well. | culford
16/1/2017 10:05 | Happy with £18.1m revenue to end November. My model suggests that taking into account trading since then they may be near £26m for the financial year to date, with four and a half months to go until year end. Would have liked some detail on the third franchise and on the timing of the PS4 launch for ED though. Was a bit intrigued by the comment they have increased development and "other business activities". Not really sure what the last bit means? Not surprised they were fairly conservative about the full year outlook as they have essentially no forward visibility on sales. Some companies have order books equating to months or sometimes years of sales but obviously not the case here. Hopefully they will be in a position to increase expectations as we get closer to end May. GLA | makw61
16/1/2017 09:56 | Some of the sellers at open doors today could well regret it. Don't let go of a share with these catalysts and drivers in play over the next 2 years. | p1nkfish |
