18/3/2006 11:50 | Quiet board - often a good sign SP slowly rising Tip from Times http://www.timesonli FOSECO has made few waves since its London flotation last May, which is hardly surprising for a maker of dissolvable components for use in the world's foundries and steel-making businesses. But as Jamie Pike, chief executive, says, Foseco is intent on "making a virtue out of being slightly boring". Turnover in the first year since listing was up 11 per cent to £376.8 million and adjusted pre-tax profits rose 19.5 per cent to £34.3 million, at the top end of City forecasts. The full-year dividend of 4½p exceeded Foseco's float guidance. Mr Pike is bullish about this year's prospects. Staffordshire-based Foseco has carved itself a wellentrenched niche in the market and expects that it can comfortably weather the continuing weakness in America's steel market - hit by volume declines - until a forecast turnaround in 2008. Foseco's shares, which eased 8½p to 176½p on profit-taking yesterday, trade on a forecast multiple of 13.3 times and offer a 2.7 per cent prospective yield. Boring, perhaps, but worth buying. | grigor

13/1/2006 19:35 | Foseco Update Short But Positive -Bridgewell Thursday, January 12, 2006 4:56:49 AM ET Dow Jones Newswires 0832 GMT [Dow Jones] Foseco's (FOSE.LN) trading update is "very short but positive," says Bridgewell analyst Johnathan Hurn. Notes company should meet market expectations for the full year. On a division basis, highlights Foundry has continued to record strong growth in 2H, while Steel is seeing improving momentum, "which is positive," given its comments at the interim stage that steel markets in North America and Europe have been "challenging." Maintains buy rating based on valuation and fundamentals. Shares unchanged at 170.25p. (PBA) | grigor

13/1/2006 19:33 | Foseco Still Top Pick For Williams De Broe Thursday, January 12, 2006 5:56:21 AM ET Dow Jones Newswires 0937 GMT [Dow Jones] Williams de Broe reiterates Foseco (FOSE.LN) as one of its top picks as "a short and sweet trading statement" confirms "a robust situation." Likes it being an activity driven stock, that is, "production rather than capex" and with plenty of momentum rolling into 06 driven off its strong business model. The European growth dimension adds a further angle as does the emerging market coverage. Sees the valuation as cheap and keeps its 200p target price. Shares unchanged at 171p. | grigor
12/1/2006 19:40 | Pre Close Trading Statement Trading remains in line with expectations. Operationally the core Foundry business, which accounts for some eighty percent of Group revenues, remains strong. Whilst the steel market has been challenging, we are seeing some signs of recovery in the performance of the Steel business. We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Lee Plutshack, formerly CEO of ex Foseco subsidiary ChemTrend, to head Foseco Steel. Lee has a strong track record of international business development and will spearhead the expansion of our steel business in China and Russia. | grigor

12/11/2005 00:52 | Bridgewell Starts Foseco, Laird, Senior Friday, November 11, 2005 4:53:09 AM ET Dow Jones Newswires 0934 GMT [Dow Jones] Bridgewell Securities initiates coverage on Foseco (FOSE.LN), rated at buy, Senior (SNR.LN), rated at overweight, and Laird Group (LARD.LN), also rated at overweight. Reckons all three stocks provide both good earnings potential and attractive valuations. "This is against a sector that continues to trade on a rare dividend yield discount to the wider market." | grigor |
