10/8/2015 18:48 | regards the ad pop up problems...I use the Maxthon browser as default and think it's in a class of it's own with a quality ad blocker. | granny7
10/8/2015 18:30 | i see with regards to games agna where they're with adds unless you pay for them to stop. | efagie
10/8/2015 17:29 | granny - ditto. Every machine is different and will react differently. I'm happy with Win 10 so far. I suspect they may introduce am opt put to compulsory updates later - once Joe public has found the faults and reported them back. For me Win XP Sp2 was the greatest - and I still run it on an old lappy for older games. | agnabeya
10/8/2015 16:08 | apparently business/industry is not being offered win 10 for a further 6 months - to give time for all the bugs to be ironed out by the general public who have effectively trailed it. I am hanging fire on my windows 7 work machine - however the 2 laptops we have with windows 8 will be migrated to windows 10 pdq if not already done - (my sons machines - I will ask them tonight if they have done it already and report back) | adg
10/8/2015 15:44 | For what it's worth my desktop started with Vista which I upgraded with a clean install of 7 and now have over written with 10. | granny7
10/8/2015 15:41 | I've upgraded my laptop from 8.1 to 10 and my desk top from win 7 to 10....no problems with either during or since with the upgrade and I prefer Win 10 over both 8.1 and 7 now that I'm finding my way around it. | granny7
10/8/2015 15:32 | Tbs, i'd leave it for now, as i'm doing with my win7, issues to agna's point, re updates being automatic, some new extra app costs, ie; media to be charged for. If like me you have a year to make up your mind, wait a little, imo... | efagie
10/8/2015 15:19 | TBS - £200? I could have done it for nowt in 5 minutes - or better still - installed a shell dos programme that gave win 8 the win 7 user interface for you. I found Win 8.1 to be sluggish and top heavy. Windows have been trying to pretend they are a mac OS for too long. If I want a touch screen I@ll buy an ipad Mr Gates!!!! I installed Win 10 on Friday. I researched opinions first and noticed that reformatting for a clean install from scratch caused most problems. Just installing over what you've got from Win 8 will be easiest and trouble free in general. It took hours though. But hassle free The thing is - I'm not sure it will install over Win 7 - I'll check for you. Win 10 has given us the start menu back again. I've found it cleaner and faster than Win 8. It is doing functions in the background I'm not so sure about. Like installing Windows updates without asking me. I prefer to review them first. I need to investigate the glitches too - but I haven't read of many so far. All my installed software and folders are still there and work fine. Windows - unlike Macs - always run good backwards compatibility with older windows software. I'm happier with Win 10 - much more so than Win 8 - but as you have win 7 installed now - ironically it may mean upgrading to Win 8 in order to overwrite it with Win 10. When I upgraded there was a hardware compatibility first - and it was fine as this is a relatively new lappy. Have you tried the compatibility test yet? If not - can you give the the exact name and model of your lappy and I'll so some searching on it for you. edit: Just found this - but I've had no problems at all. I enjoy the challenges though - perhaps you should wait until the glitches are sorted. I'll still search for compatibility for you if you give me the name of your lappy. | agnabeya
10/8/2015 13:20 | tbs had that long ago, felt the same, drove me up the wall enough to think of leaving, though think you'll find that add was specifically sent to you and no one else. everyone gets their own add with their details on. using adblocker or such gets rid of such nuisance adds and makes things so much quicker. imo. | efagie
10/8/2015 12:49 | Tbs.....send it to the FSA.. That sounds well dodgy. Did you approach ADVFN with it? | agnabeya

10/8/2015 12:42 | I had a look in here yesterday and couldn't believe my eyes when an ad appeared to the right of the posts for a spreadbetting company. Nothing wrong with that you may think, but my blood boiled over when I noticed that it included an application form that contained my personal details bar my tel number pre filled by form autofill. How low can ADVFN stoop? ps, I amended the form so that it went somewhere that they REALLY don't want it to go and suggest that you guys do the same if it pops up on your screen. edit - I swapped my E Mail addy & tel number for someone who will chew their asses off if they follow it up. | the black spanner
10/8/2015 12:19 | They have only been there for some 7 weeks, the first two weeks would have been to doing the top hole section, so its unlikely they had hit hydrates before thats completion. Its possible the BOP failed during its testing which has to be done before proceeding with drilling after the top hole part is done. Did they hit shallow hydrates? it should have shown that possiblity on the 3d, which would suggest poor well design (aka pmo) from noble, High pressure gas? wrong casing? doubt that. | efagie
10/8/2015 11:30 | Quite simply we don't know whether hydrates were an issue or not. There is speculation that the rig moved off slot for a number of days. There are two things about hydrates that may be relevant. 1 They normally show up on seismic 2 There is normally a liquid hydrocarbon phase somewhere below them To be fair the sea depth and temperatures would be in the region for hydrates to occur so it's entirely possible the rig got a kick when passing though shallow zone's and thus the hole had to be shut in to enable heavier mud to be mixed and used. I'm sure we will find out in the next month or so. In the meantime I'm expecting PMO to can Sea Lion development in the current price environment! | ngms27
10/8/2015 11:26 | Anyone else unable to access the 'other' BB? I have been getting 502 errors since Friday. | agnabeya
10/8/2015 11:14 | Rob...are you sure? I put him on filter when I saw the language he was using. Maybe it's Borgo with Tourettes. I don't feed trolls anyway. | agnabeya
10/8/2015 10:01 | 6 weeks ago they hit shallow gas hydrates, or they had hydrate problems in the drilling mud whichever rumour you decide to believe none have any value except the humpback reservoir data and below. | goldieshotz
10/8/2015 10:00 | He's talking about isobel lol.... | robpuguk
10/8/2015 08:53 | 11%, try talking sense! | idleduck
10/8/2015 08:46 | They wouldn't have been anywhere near the prospective reservoirs 6 weeks ago so that's simply bullsh1t | ngms27
09/8/2015 21:53 | Word on the street, 6 weeks ago, was, it was a gusher. They are hiding the data.....for the take over. | 11_percent
09/8/2015 21:40 | Obviously, he should watch Pulp Fiction ("do you speak English" scene with Samuel L. Jackson) before he attempts an answer! | tongosti |
