Some good results from Schroders no doubt providing positive impetus across the FM sector. Gartmore, however, seems to experiencing yet more problems...

Nice momentum and it will most likely re-enter ftse 250 at next review so buying from funds will contine to drive it up.

Bought into this yesterday on new high being made, and a clear uptrend in place.

Steady as she goes.
I am just back to break even having bought twice last year, having said that I guess I am ahead about 6% having collected the divi.
I will continue to hold as this is pretty much the cheapest asset manager out there on the basis of AUM.

Have to agree. It's time for yet another round of financial market institution consolidation. Man Group is apparently in the firing line - Jupiter is going all guns a blazing at the mo post IPO. No FM or hedgie is out of reach I suspect.

F&C could be a prime target for a big bank wanting to gain exposure to asset Management. It has recently happened with RBC purchasing Bluebay and is a clear example of a bank using an asset management divison rather than a trading business of the past. Good times for F&C investors!

Daily ranges of 2p make the divi pretty meaningless in the greater scheme of things. But nice for holders all the same ;)

Yeah but the share price movement this week makes no sense what so ever! It went EX on 29th and record date was on the 30th so I would have expected a bit of selling after this date but its surged up with no news to back it up! I'm wondering if a potential bid could be made pretty soon! With Resolution as the prime candidates! Mere speculation on my part!

Excellent week considering it also went XD for 1p.
Other fund managers e.g. CLIG also strong

There was rumour a bit ago that there may be another party other than Sherbourne interested in F&C! You may have hit the nail on the head with Resolution Topvest!

I think that's a very good call topvest. Makes perfect sense, particularly since F&C still manage a good chunk of Friends Provident's assets.

Just a thought, but what about Resolution bidding for F&C? Would be rather odd given their demerger from Friends' Provident 18m ago, but Resolution have said in their recent interims that they are looking to buy institutional asset management.

they need 50.00000001% but any % may put them in a position to be invited onto the board

Cheers for the Info. guys! One last question what percentage shareholding do Sherbourne require to gain a seat on the board of F&C?

A holding of more than 29.9% is normally the trigger for a bid. A hostile takeover could be launched with any amount of shares if the bidding company was daft enough to try it.

"pursuant to the Group's Investment Policy the Group intends
that its shareholding in F&C will not reach such a level as to require the Group to make a bid for the entire company."

The level at which they must make a mandatory bid is 30%.
