Matching 500K reported late as a T trade. In other words big seller, and buyer matched up, MM making 0.25 a share. Lots of other trades about the mid price, so no idea what is what. I might put a buy order in at 27.5, see if they are interested.

Hi, yes saw the 500k, and wondered what it was. All we can do is wait and see if price moves, or another trade appears if MMs are simply crossing the shares. Saw your comments on jdt, and agree EFN are a cracking buy. The thing is I already have a shedload, some from 22p (nice) and was just looking round what else was good value. I bought a few JFI, as I could sense they wouldnt stay at 9 very long, but have more time on efn.

Hallo, Curry. There has just been a deal of 500,000 shares at mid-price (27p), according to screens. Is this a purchase or a sale ?? Also - please see my observations on EFN on the JDT thread. Cheers.

o.k.Thick question from a newbie.Given that split prices are quoted for the trust itself and then for the components(i.e. ords, zdps),what am i actually buying if i buy the trust?

for instance, jupiterenhanced (from the ft)is quoted at 50 ish .underneath is a quote for the zdp share.another would be (at random)lmi utils which quotes a unit price then a price for the income and zdp shares.

nellyfur. Not sure what you mean. With split trusts, the price quote is almost always for a single component. Except for Units when two or more of the components are added and traded together.

4p/year div on the ords is just covered by earnings (income on investments less exps, interest and annual provisions for redemption of zeros), any more than that would be depleting NAV so would presumably depress the share price. Income (dividends/interest on the portfolio of shares and bonds) won't increase with increases in the FT100 in fact some dividends may be cut. But 4p/year is a pretty good yield even on the current 26p offer price (15.4%) and even if the assets don't increase in value the GRY for long-term holders is over 20%

These divi payments are great, another 1p a share paid end April, and the price goes up. divis so far 1p....30/4/03 2p....31/1/03 2p....27/9/02 2p....28/6/02 2p....30/4/02 I wonder if the 2p will resume now FT100 looks a little stronger.

24.0 - 27.0 Its racing away now. With FT100 at 4K, better press, and the realisation there is good value here, efn could have a long way to go yet. rns 08 May 2003 Collins Stewart Limited has notified the Company that with effect from 6 May 2003 Collins Stewart Limited and Collins Stewart (CI) Limited hold and control 3,881,435 ordinary shares in Exeter Financials Fund on behalf of discretionary clients of the two firms. This holding equates to 6.31% of the issued share capital of that class

Up again today on the bid, now 21 - 23. Still not a big volume of shares traded, other than the odd institution placing some, ie a 250k last week. With financials, and the FTSE100 looking slightly rosier, EFN is IMHO at too big a discount at 22p mid. If you look at their list of holdings, many have been oversold, and are now producing a whopping dividend, LLOY for example must be on 8% now, at £4. That cant last too long, especially with interest rates just having been cut, with more on the way. bought another chunk at under 23, very nice.

Two 1.5m trades @ 23p. Both purchases perhaps? Surely a put-through would have been done at prices to reflect a small mm turn. 3m amounts to c.5% of the 61.5m Income shares, so we may see an announcement sometime soon. Have posted my bullish views on this stock on the JDT thread today.
