14/3/2007 22:32 | Wiltshire Business Travel the easy way It may sound extravagent, but the best way to make sure you get to that business meeting in Europe on time is to invest in a private jet. European Business Jets offers an affordable private jet alternative in Europe. And the company has seen a dramatic rise in the number of enquiries it receives, as a result of the current security alert. Recent events and the ongoing climate of uncertainty mean that, particularly for the regular or business traveler, commercial airlines are becoming less and less of a viable option. Flights continue to be cancelled or delayed, there are stringent hand luggage restrictions, and the spate of baggage losses compounds the frustration felt by many. While the degree of inconvenience may have passed its peak, many believe that such problems are unlikely to have disappeared altogether. Coupled with threatened strike action over the coming months, this means that commercial aviation, and its passengers, may have a difficult time ahead. Graeme Deary, CEO of European Business Jets, said: "It is a sad but unavoidable fact that, in today's world, people are actually afraid to fly on a commercial airline from a major airport. "In the light of various alerts, people are increasingly aware of the safety of their families and employees when asking them to travel, and we are seeing the effect of that. "Private jet travel offers convenience and above all, guaranteed security, and thereby represents the perfect antidote to the issues surrounding commercial flying today. "Owning your aircraft means that not only do you have peace of mind, but also the assurance that your journey will run to your schedule - it takes of from an airport close to you, at a time specified by you, with as much luggage as you need to take on board. 'In today's world, people are actually afraid to fly on a commercial airline from a major airport' "You also have an enjoyable flight in an environment in which you can relax and talk in confidence. "No longer is private jet travel a luxurious extravagance, more an indispensable mode of transport." European Business Jets (EBJ), a recent entrant to the European fractional jet ownership market, launched its low cost alternative to private jet travel in Europe 18 months ago, and floated on AIM in April last year. Its concept is based on a streamlined version of the fractional ownership model. Individuals and companies purchase a portion of a specific aircraft - an interest that meets their travel requirements based on the number of actual hours they expect to fly annually. They are then guaranteed exclusive use and availability of an aircraft in Europe 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with as little as 12 hours' notice. Member costs are as low as £2,100 per hour flown, which equates to £420 per person per hour on one of the 5-seater Citation CJ1 jets. EBJ has recently launched a Five Hour Demonstration Card, giving prospective customers the rare opportunity to test drive' its private jet programme and sample the benefits of affordable private jet travel in Europe.
