"...The booming demand for liquified natural gas (LNG) is already generating fat profits for the companies involved in this industry, from the oil and gas service companies, which help develop and maintain the wells, to the tanker companies transporting the gas (or liquid) around the world...."

But NGSP down another 22.3% so far this year.

From Wisdomtee.eu's site
"WisdomTree Natural Gas is a fully collateralised, UCITS eligible Exchange Traded Commodity (ETC) designed to provide investors with a total return exposure to Natural Gas futures contracts. The ETC aims to replicate the Bloomberg Natural Gas Sub Total Return Index (BCOMNGTR) by tracking the Bloomberg Natural Gas Sub Excess Return Index and providing the interest revenue adjusted to reflect fees and costs associated with the product. ..."

LOL! Looks like a new all-time low today, below 11 December last.
Been all the way down since 2008 this one and that's just glancing at a chart which typically isn't inflation-adjusted.

An excellent (potential) price reversal pattern combined with significant volumes over the last 10 days.

UK natural gas price dropped 22% on Friday and is down another 12% so far today. Will the MSM, particularly the blinkered BBC notice or are they only interested in negative consumer stories.

Natural Gas Rig Count: The natural gas rig count decreased for the eighth week in a row to 802 (a drop of 16 rigs from the previous week). As per the most recent report, the number of gas-directed rigs is at their lowest level since January 8, 2010 and is down more than 14% from its 2011 peak of 936, reached during mid-October.

The current natural gas rig count remains 50% below its all-time high of 1,606 reached in late summer 2008, but has rebounded strongly after bottoming out to a 7-year low of 665 on July 17, 2009. In the year-ago period, there were 931 active natural gas rigs.

To Conclude

As mentioned above, the natural gas rig count has been falling since the last few weeks, 132 rigs in fact (or 14.1%) from its recent high of 934 in October 28. Is this bullish for natural gas fundamentals? The answer is a no, if we look at the U.S. production and the shift in rig composition.

With horizontal rig count – the technology responsible for the abundant gas drilling in domestic shale basins – currently close to its all-time high, output from these fields remains robust. As a result, gas inventories still remain at elevated levels – 11.9% above the 5-year average and 6.9% higher than the same period last year.

In fact, natural gas prices have dropped approximately 38% from this year's peak of about $5.00 per million Btu (MMBtu) in June to the current level of around $3.10 (referring to spot prices at the Henry Hub, the benchmark supply point in Louisiana).

In the absence of major production cuts or a stronger economy to boost industrial demand, which is responsible for almost a third of gas consumption, we do not expect much upside in gas prices in the near term. This has prompted some companies to alter their spending patterns, away from gas to the more profitable liquids-rich projects.

I suppose this low NG price should be good for the American economy until it starts to deplete of course. Hope their not wasting it or even worse selling it aboard.

Impossible to call bottom (new lower low made recently), and I wouldn't put more than beer money i.e. a few hundred quid, in this because of the decay factor. I take interest merely from the chart technical aspect.

Back in May it looked like a possible trend change as the RSI was heading to positive territory, and it could have broke out of its trading range then, but no buyers en masse were interested.

I still stick with my close 25 or above, posted back in February #(124) before doing anything.

Hi - I'm thinking of having a punt on NSPG. The present level seems to approx. represent a floor for the share price - I would welcome your opinion on this.

Another new low. Relentless! Wait until we close above 25 before even thinking about this trend reversing.

A few more weeks of this, and a weekly close of 25, then this might be worth a punt. It's been an awful painful time for longs for the last 2.5 years!

This is the price of natural gas in the USA converted from dollars to pounds not the price of UK natural gas from the north sea or Russia.

what confuses me about this is that Brit Gas etc are saying the cost of gas to them has been rising, surely a rising price scenario would be indicated by the price of this starting to rise too ??

well thats what I thought - always a catch with any of these I'm afraid. The more research I do into these commodity funds the more you see them for what they really are. ever depreciating highly controlled products.
