Main problem here is the Rupee which seems to be in continual decline, nearly 30% lower than in 2011, and still falling.

@hvs - I can understand your frustration, I've traded this stock a few times before, said I wouldn't touch it again, then few weeks ago I touched it.

I remember when this pile of junk came to market and Goldmans were setting price targets above £6.....I have learnt to never pay any attention to the supposed experts who always have their own hidden agendas.
This is a high risk company in that it needs to generate significant cash flow just to service its epic debt levels but there is no chance of a high reward and no divi so why would you ever get involved.
I have traded them in the past which is the only way to approach them. They are not an investment.

but the larger refinery business in India is losing money on every barrel processed.

The Indian businesses would seem at best opaque.

Negative margins on last results.

losing money on every barrel processed.

That is going to have to turn around.

Negative sentiment in charge here and rightly so it would seem for now.

Below a £1.05 could be a good high probability long position short term.

I think that there is a trust issue with the Indians and massive debt.

The sentiment here has gone very negative.

Hard to turn that around.

I think you answered your own question.
Do they have predictable cash flows stretching out into the future?
When I did a bit of research I gave up due to the complex nature of the various businesses.
They bought Stanlow refinery in the UK last year which appears to have been something of a vanity purchase given that Europe has a surplus of refining capacity.
For me there is not enough upside potential to justify the risk which I see as relatively high.

Is the debt really that much of a problem? provided that you have predictable cash flows stretching out into the future.

You want to see debt - take a look at National Grid! Debt does not seem to have held them back.

I do not have a position - just speculating.

Essar is a big bag of assets underwritten by a mountain of debt.
They will live to service their debts for the foreseeable future.
The oil refining business is a basket case in that there is excess supply in certain areas like Europe which is why Ineos want to close Grangemouth and the unions have willingly obliged.
I have looked in here a few times and even made a small profit on a trade the last time it hit the 120 line.
My view is that it is a trading stock as I don't see value in the 3 year timeframe.

I would not mind an intelligent conversation with someone.

This is one indebted company as it stands.

Looks as if that debt is set to get bigger too.

But Power generation and refining fuels as businesses are hardly likely to go out of fashion any time soon.

Would love to hear some sensible input from individuals here.
