"we are in discussions with the government of Liberia to seek further land that would be suitable, taking in account HCS and other required assessments and studies that are now mandatory for all new developments."

PAL clearly seeking to expand operations in Liberia.

"2019 has seen the first revenues coming in from the sale of our oil palm products by the associate (Liberian Palm Developments Limited), following the commissioning of the new palm oil mill at Palm Bay estate in 2018. EPO is now targeting positive cash flow from its associate's Liberian operations."

Looks like the coming year will be potentially transformational for PAL.

Having regard to the ever present problems that face EPO,I have decided to exit from my holding in PAL.
Good luck though to the Company and to remaining investors.

No mention for PAL, but an interesting insight into the problems two other companies.. Sime Darby and Golden Veroleum have had developing palm oil concessions in Liberia...

Nice chart though jovi1.
Those who invested over recent months should be comfortable with their holdings.
Although upward movements in the PAL share price tend to be erratic,we do keep seeing good occasional buying.

Adverse press comment over recent days might well serve to temporarily affect the PAL share price, possibly significantly so.The "scare stories" contain nothing new however;they have just been deemed newsworthy, with Nutella, possibly unfairly, singled out for special attention.

Palm oil is the most consumed vegetable oil on the planet, appearing in just under half of all packaged products found in supermarkets.
It is the most efficient source of vegetable oil and its use is expanding rapidly – which is a threat to habitats in tropical rainforests, where it grows.
The fears that palm oil cause cancer are due to compounds called glycidyl fatty acide esters (GE), that are produced when palm oil is heated above 200 degrees celsius.
The oil is heated above this temperature during the processing of many foods, but Nutella has received the bulk of negative press.

Demand for palm oil is skyrocketing worldwide. The recent spike in use by the US snack food industry is due in large part to Palm Oil being used as a replacement for controversial trans fats. One might draw the conclusion that the strong upward trend in consumption will continue .

Possibly any significant short term weakness in the share price will present an opportunity.

Nice informative thread Muddy.. I wish I'd found it earlier. My entry price is double yours so maybe I'll hang on for the 14p :-).. assuming everything goes to plan that is, and we eventually get to the Mirabaud target.

PAL is one of 14 stocks I bought in the new year.. nearly all of them for the potential shown in the chart, but also helped by reading useful threads such as this.

I'm revamping my portfolio after a couple of fairly disastrous years when I abandoned my basic principles .. ie listening to too much bb and other hype, holding on to stocks when the chart says sell etc etc. New year new beginning for me. (still holding BYOT btw, for my sins :-!)

People forget that house broker Mirabaud accorded a target price of 14 pence to PAL and stressed that this was conservative.
Add to this the progress achieved since their review and this company remains a wondrous bargain, imo.

"The company will focus on the West African and European market, both of which have an advantage for shipping, and are burgeoning in terms of market demand. By remaining focused on developing environmentally stable palm oil, outside of virgin forest and producing an accredited, sustainable palm oil, the company is a top contender for older markets as well.

Liberia is well placed to have significant palm oil production and be a successful West Africa palm oil producer, and Equatorial Palm Oil has tapped into its potential. As the company grows alongside the country, it stands to reason that Equatorial Palm Oil could be in operations for generations to come."

The "icing on the cake" though remains the fact that PAL could well be acting as stalking horse for global parent company KLK;establishing a viable and acceptable operation in Liberia prior to being seriously scaled up and with PAL then bought out at around the above valuation mark.

The Directors(of KLK) think so too, having invested heavily at much higher prices.
