kooba- many thanks for your thoughts. I completely agree with you; I also think there's an awful lot of potential here (though as you say, the company will probably need to raise funding at some point). I'll also keep doing some more homework over the coming days/weeks and post anything I find. Just out of curiosity: why do you think this company is flying under so many people's radar? I've looked at quite a few BBs in the last few days and have been amazed at the general lack of discussion.

hi peteqm. i have been adding here very recently [picked up 100k this year so far] i think recent developments are all excellent and like pdx we have a number of technologies addressing different markets all of which are potential blockbusters.the company seems under researched...nothing current...and difficult to get hold of historic broker notes.there has been an institutional seller that i think is close to being cleared hense the static performance. but i see this company with a market cap of £20m as a great punt as the markets it is addressing could propel it to a ftse250 company over the next few years...real potential and most of the hard graft of development done the tricky but highly rewarding implimentation/commercialisation phase has arrived...we are at an inflexion point imo...and a decent rerating is due..only caveat is the company's financial position where i see a need to raise additional funding taking us through to positive cashflow needed later this year.trying to do a bit more homework over the next week or two and will post anything interesting.

This must be one of the quietest threads on advfn- where is everyone?

imo there's been a lot of positive news in the last couple of months. Just to go though what's been mentioned in the RNSs:

- Genlec received orders for the Kingston appliance from E.On (1st Dec) and CanmetEnergy (15th Dec), achieved CE certification (27th Jan), and started field trials (31st Jan).

- Pnu Power launched a high-powered system for the data centre market (28th Jan).

- And VPhase won the Shell Springboard Award (3rd Feb) and signed a multi-year agreement with Eaga which targets sales of more than 5,000 VX1s per year (13th Dec).

Yet it almost seems as if no one has noticed. Is there no one else out there who's following egx?

And here's some very nice news from VPhase today...

Press release 03 February 2011

VPhase plc

("VPhase" or the "Company" or the "Group")

VPhase wins Shell Springboard Award

VPhase plc, (AIM:VPHA), a leading developer of energy saving products for residential and commercial properties, is delighted to announce it has won a GBP30,000 award from the Shell Springboard programme which is designed to promote the growth of green businesses in the UK.

VPhase competed in the regional finals for the award against eight other businesses from across the UK on 1st February 2011 in Birmingham. The overall UK winner will be named in London on the 22 February.

VPhase received the award for its VX1 Voltage Optimisation device, a product which lowers and regulates household voltage use, so that devices and appliances continue to operate as before, but by using typically around 25 volts less. This reduction of domestic voltage in turn leads to a decrease in household electricity bills of between six to twelve per cent.

The Shell Springboard programme has awarded over GBP1.6 million to 50 UK small businesses since it launched in 2005. The programme helps small businesses make an impact in the fight against climate change by providing a no-strings-attached financial boost to companies with innovative products and services that could help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Rick Smith CEO from VPhase said, "We believe the Vphase device can make a difference in the fight against climate change and it's incredibly rewarding that a well-established programme like Shell Springboard has acknowledged this potential. The funding and recognition received will assist us to press ahead with our ambitions for Voltage Optimisation. These include tackling fuel poverty and reducing CO2 emissions in the UK."

The host for the awards ceremony, Jeremy Shears, Global Manager for Innovation Biodomain at Shell Global Solutions, commented: "The energy sector has to innovate to satisfy the world's growing energy needs at a reduced environmental cost. The businesses competing all demonstrated that innovation. Special congratulations to VPhase for impressing the judges with its technology. I wish them every success for future development and growth of the business."

James Smith, Chairman Shell UK, said: "Low carbon innovation creates real opportunities for British industry. The UK has huge talent and creativity in this area. In the last six years Shell Springboard has awarded 50 small businesses with a total of GBP1.6 million to advance their new business ideas for products and services to tackle climate change. I look forward to meeting VPhase at the final and wish them every success."

NewKid... by the way, why do you think only the Kingston boiler has any chance of making real money? What about Pnu Power? The Pnu system has had trial applications in telecoms and power grids and the DC100 has now been launched for the data-centre market. Just to quote the 28 Jan RNS:

"The investment in greener data centres is predicted to experience rapid growth over the next five years, increasing from $7.5 billion in global revenue to $41.4 billion by 2015, representing 28% of the total data centre market. Analysis indicates that power and cooling infrastructure solutions will be the largest portion of the green data centre market opportunity, representing 46% of revenue over the next five years, providing strong economic and regulatory drivers for the development of battery free solutions like Pnu Power."

As for commercialisation of the Kingston appliance: henryatkin, I hope/believe we won't have to wait until 2012 for that. EGX is taking a modular approach to the Kingston: right now the appliance has achieved certification as a condensing boiler- a 'micro-CHP ready appliance' so to speak. When the power module is certified (which is anticipated in Q1 2011 according to the 27 Jan RNS), it can be slotted into existing boilers to make for a full micro-CHP appliance. This is just my opinion, of course, but it seems to me that the rationale for this modular approach must surely be that the company intends to start selling the micro-CHP ready appliance in advance of the power module- and personally I would imagine that happening this year already.

All imo & dyor- but I see a lot of potential in EGX & can understand why Steve Fawkes of Matrix came out with a target price of 135p. As denc pointed out in a previous post, the company will probably have to fundraise in the fairly near future. But then again, if they put the money to good use (commercialisation!) then I'm fine with it.

NewKid... I agree with you that the utility companies are a crucial route to market & need to trial the Kingston. Just flicking through some recent RNSs, though, I have the impression EGX is doing well in this respect:

- 20 Oct 2010: the German Gas and Water Association ordered an appliance "for the testing and demonstration...for the German market"
- 1 Dec 2010: E:ON ordered "an initial small batch of Kingston appliances for testing in E.ON's facilities in Germany and at two facilities in the UK."
- 15 Dec 2010: CanmetEnergy ordered a Kingston appliance "for testing and demonstration in CanmetEnergy's facility in Ontario, Canada. This will be followed by showcasing the product to the Canadian heating industry."

By the way, Steven Fawkes of the Matrix Group has given a target price of 135p, so I hope we will be seeing some movement in the SP!!!

henryatkin. May be hype was the wrong word but until we see + figures or contracts we are not going to see any real movement in the share price The Kingston boiler is IMO the only product that has a chance of making any real money therefore I am some what surprised it's taking so long to get to market. They have been working on this since 2007 or am I wrong? They should also IMO be getting the utility companies involved with any field trails now not 12 months down the road. Don't forget it now has certification so any installation would be legal. So if they gave them all 2 trail systems they could form there own opinons with out delay. After all,the companies will carry out they own field trails before they would roll it out to there customers even after EGX has done theirs.

The thing I always liked about EGX is that their products are deliberately relatively low-tech, keeps production costs low and reliability high.

newkid .... I wouldn't call it hype. The past week has seen the kingston boiler being given its certification and now actually being installed in domestic premises. I reckon thats quite significant news. I would have thought the company would need at least a couple of quarters of domestic use to evaluate its performance and more than that to assess reliablity. I don''t see how they could market it to the trade without meaningful performance and payback data. I reckon it will be the end of this year before similar tests are complete in Canada and Germany so 2012 for commercialisation imo. No good trying to kid ourselves that this is an overnight flyer. The upside is that any competition is a long way behind us and energy prices will only go up higher.

2 RNS's in 2 days and no movement in the share price The market looks like it's not in love with this company. We need hard sales figures not hype.

P.S. Pete no need to post the RNS on here. We can all see it.

Press release 27 January 2011

Energetix Group plc

("Energetix" or "the Group")

Genlec Achieves CE Certification for Kingston Boiler

Energetix Group plc (AIM:EGX), a group of companies with three cost-effective products (Pnu Power, Genlec and VPhase) to meet the growing demand for alternative energy, is pleased to announce that its subsidiary Energetix Genlec Limited ("the Company") has achieved CE certification for its high efficiency Kingston condensing boiler.

The certification process has been conducted in the UK by BSI, a global leader in the provision of product certification, technical standards and testing and Enertek International a specialist gas appliance development and test organisation. The Company has received confirmation that its Kingston boiler appliance having been tested under the Gas Appliance Directive (GAD) has satisfied the requirements necessary for CE marking and can therefore be deployed in the field trial phase of Energetix Genlec's commercial development.

Due to its unique design, the Kingston appliance can either be installed as a condensing boiler or with the addition of the Genlec power module, as a microCHP appliance.

The CE certification process for the Kingston product with power module is underway and is anticipated later in Q1 2011. Once the integrated Kingston is certified, existing Kingston boiler installations will be upgraded with power modules to test and demonstrate the microCHP operation of the Kingston appliance.

Adrian Hutchings, CEO of Energetix Group, commented: "We are delighted to have achieved this key milestone which is a major step toward the start of commercial sales of the Kingston product. We believe Kingston's low cost and capability to be a direct replacement for a traditional boiler, makes Kingston the product that will finally deliver a real microCHP solution to the annual £5bn UK and European boiler markets."

About Energetix Group plc

Energetix Group plc has three businesses with cost-effective products to meet the growing global demand for alternative energy. With a focus on distributed generation, energy storage and energy efficiency, the Energetix businesses are:

• Energetix (Pnu) Power Limited - compressed-air back-up power;

• Energetix Genlec Limited - distributed generation in the home; and

• VPhase plc - domestic energy efficiency.(c.43% owned by the Group)

Energetix's strategy is to create products based on robust engineering principles, regularly utilising existing mass-produced components configured in a novel and patentable way. Avoiding cutting-edge science has enabled the Group's businesses to de-risk the new product development process which in turn reduces development time and costs. This has enabled the businesses to have a lower-than-normal technology risk while still producing strong intellectual property. In addition, this facilitates the outsourcing of production and assembly, significantly reducing the Group's investment in capital equipment. The body of know-how developed within the Group has also enabled the businesses to modify the design of existing mass-produced components to reduce costs, improve efficiency and strengthen the Group's intellectual property position.

Energetix Group joined AIM in August 2006. The Group and its subsidiaries and associates are all based near Chester, NW England.

will be interesting to see if any of the large power distribution companies are more bullish on the benefits of energy saving and engage with egx on distribution as a promotional [eco] drive.
meanwhile i would say the steady improvement in the shareprice is indicating some are missing the merits of where the company is positioned.

imho they will struggle to sell these things at £250 to householders who may or may not get their money back over 3-6 years - there is i assume some installation cost as well - the average householder does not want to be messing with the distribution board - unless there is some legislation in the area i do not see this as a big winner - that does not mean there is not money to be made on the shares because many people will disagree with that conclusion and buy the shares anyway - they appear to have about one years cash left - a fund raising in the next six months would appear inevitable and a probable share dilution or debt

not one i would get enthusiastic about - but what do i know

i am more enthused by srt for those who like tech bets

Kooba. IP rights on this sort of device is not worth a light IMO. They can not protect the concept because it has been used for years. All they can do is protect the tech but all someone has to do is change the electronics. Then it's not the same. What I would do is sell the patent to China.

With regards to cost savings. The only thing that you could save money on is the lights, TV's and maybe a few more things as most other things use thermostats to control current flow.

newkid
29/9/2010
08:51
no you are not missing something any energy saving product whether insulation or engine management systems are upfront costs...for the reduced running [and of course environmental] costs going forward.
re vphase they site cost savings of between £75 and £135 per annum using say £100 average then a 2.5 year payback appears more realistic and attractive than 5 years.

try and buy an ordinary light bulb now [i personally am enjoying not replacing the things on a regular basis as i use less electricity!]....govt and eu intervention may well mean that voltage control and energy efficient heating systems are compulsory [esp new build]...anyway egx as the ip holder stands to make very good money as the products are adopted so seems the right place to be.

kooba
29/9/2010
08:34
This is a bit like the low energy light bulb. The only one's making money is the manufacturer. Surely if you payout £250 plus to have a VPhase installed and payback is 5 years then the only time you start to save money is after 5 years. The same with mCHP. With mCAP costing £600 more then a standard boiler. Therefore, SAVINGS = UP FRONT COST or am I missing something?
