Half price in just over a month.. where has reality gone? this is one project in three, and probably the smallest of them. We can wait months for china, why not a bit of fraccing?

Anyone who liked conspiracy theories might think that yesterdays debacle was orchestrated for some to get out at a higher price given todays news.

if they were stuck for cash, they would have plugged and moved up to get production.. It is obviously worth the wait

....Also note the SGC RNS was released AFTER trading finished in Oz, so we have not yet seen the ASX response to this update...which will come on Sunday overnight...

Good to see old brim ticking his post up with some alter ego avatar.I agree with wsj there would well be a bigger player in the background.

I see nothing to indicate fracking won't be allowed, far from it California's apparently quite for it (on the quiet).

Dont forget to read the SGC RNS as well as the EME one. The quote from GJ gives more detail....

Further thought:

I can't see how SGC would expect to fund a fracc if they were pushed for funding the original well. Is there a larger player in the background who wants the information and is prepared to underwrite the work needed to obtain it?

Various thoughts:

SGC are not behaving as though they have time/cost constraints. If so they would be poking the more interesting bands as a priority.

They would not be wasting time with the California regulators if the chances of getting the OK were low.

The situation is better than just saying that the bottom strata were dry. I.e. they have an extra option.

I would have thought that to fracc the bottom would be really expensive, what with a fracc drill and fraccing team. Not an option to take on a whim. What they are after has to be worth the expense.

Interesting turn of events here - a real mixed bag IMO.
Firstly I don’t think Strachan did anything wrong - he expressed his opinion on a subscription based stock trading newsletter which is likely to have stated clearly that it was his opinion. However, SG50, then copied and pasted it to a public forum where it was viewed as fact. He/she is almost certainly in breach of copyright laws - hence the post was removed and the poster disappaered quickly! By then the damage was done.

So what of the latest SGC release - in my view there is good and bad. The bad is that the current flow only generates around $400 per day before tax and royalties, so without doubt this is not economic and they still need permission to hook up to the pipeline. Additionally this strategy will introduce more delay and assumes they will be allowed to stimulate the lower zones. All this leaves the question on funding.
However, the rest is potentially good news. Let’s ignore the fact there are loads more zones to test (which may be very commercial in their own right). So breaking the news down, they are going to stimulate the second zone to try and achieve much greater flow rates. Why? To prove that this is a world class asset is my view. The gas is dry and of a great quality and clearly it can flow. Therefore, to move up the well to test further zones without spending the time and money to prove that these lower zones are potentially producible from would be folly. The impact as stated, is time delay and further cost overruns - but it could be worth a lot more going forward,so this makes sense to me. However, I am now convinced, despite the well within budget that the partners will need to find funding somehow. I am ready to buy lots more when the funding situation is clarified. AIMHO.

Clearly the bottom two zones are generating interest and that is why they are being focussed on at this stage. Those above are known producers are pretty much certs to be good so it is interesting to see so much attention being placed on the first two tested rather than take the easy pickings. That is a good sign AFAIAC.
