29/7/2014 09:54 | Elementis - the FTSE 250 global speciality chemicals company - posts pre-tax profits of $72.4m for the six months to the end of June, 7% up on last time. Sales were 3% higher at $400.0m and operating profits were up 5% at $76.8m on margins unchanged at 19%. Basic earnings per share rose 11% to 12.8c and the interim dividend of 2.70c is up 5% from a year ago. Group chief executive David Dutro said: "Elementis has delivered a performance in the first half of 2014 that demonstrates once again the resilience of our business model. The Group's strategy of creating its own growth opportunities combined with its strong and diverse market positions has helped to offset the first quarter weather issues that impacted our Coatings, Oilfield and Chromium chemical businesses in North America. "This performance was achieved despite global growth rates that varied by region and industry. Our strategy of extending the Group's geographic footprint and broadening our end markets contributed significantly to this first half performance. "We believe that few companies are as well positioned as Elementis to capture growth in a rapidly changing world and we are extremely proud of the high performance culture that we have built. "The group's global expertise, in combination with its robust business model and track record of generating strong profits and cash flow, gives confidence that the future is indeed promising and that Elementis will continue to make good progress in the medium term, with earnings per share for the current year in the range of market expectations." - | broadwood

30/4/2014 11:07 | Hindsight is a gift but it is certainly disappointing not to see buyers supporting the share at 290p. However, ELM is certainly not alone as the FTSE250 is undergoing a significant correction after recent exuberance (that ELM did not really participate in sadly). I feel ELM is simply being dragged down by the crowd at the moment on low volume, so I would expect a run back up to 300p assuming wider global issues do not suck the markets dry. I remain a holder for now. | bones
30/4/2014 09:07 | The way this share has drifted in the post IMS days is unbelievable. It would have been far more lucrative to have sold at 300p plus and forgone the dividend, or, even better, to have sold and bought back in prior to ex. date. I would guess there will be a large exchange of shares along the line soon and then hopefully it will claw it's way back. | peaeff
24/4/2014 07:43 | Global speciality chemicals group Elementis expects full year earnings to be in line with market forecasts. Group chief executive David Dutro said the company had started the year with good sales momentum across its broad based growth platform. He added: "As noted at the time the group reported its final results, short term weather issues impacted our North American based coatings, oilfield and chromium businesses in January and February, as snow and unusually cold temperatures disrupted transportation and caused some customers to temporarily close plants. "Despite these impacts Specialty Products still posted solid growth with stable margins and, although sales volumes in Chromium, the division with the highest dependency on North America, were slightly below the previous year, its operating profit was comfortably ahead of the comparative period - See more at: | broadwood
23/4/2014 01:25 | Technically, we need this to finish north of 293p tomorrow, ideally with volume behind it. | bones
23/4/2014 01:24 | gardenarc, not out of the question. ELM has a nice portfolio of businesses and plenty of cash but would cost a predator a small fortune (which is good!). | bones

22/4/2014 10:00 | Peaeff, if this breakout can be held over the next two day closes, I'll expect a quick run to 315p initially before further turbulence. | bones
22/4/2014 09:38 | Could it be today we hit the 300p marker, it's looking very possible, but how far beyond thereafter?. | peaeff |
