24/5/2004 18:28 | As I suspected. Results as exepected. No real impact on share price. For holders at higher value, either cut losses or hope for management change. With no more news for 6 months and a warning of tough trading conditions, this may slide further! IMO DYOR | pommey1
21/5/2004 07:41 | TRADING CONDITIONS TOUGH - statement today | lom2
17/5/2004 11:57 | Sub 60 coming as per my prediction | pommey1
11/5/2004 09:25 | i agree to a large extent,it would be nice if the business started to move in the right direction for a change .The point im making is the business is almost valued at nothing(maybe it s/b),the goodwill is virtually wo now +bal.sheet rock solid. some shares you need in your portfolio that are safe, asset backed with a yield. yes ive held forever too. | feedthegoat
10/5/2004 21:19 | Feedthegoat, The picture that you paint is the same old, same old. This company has less cash, less t/o and profit and less customers than it used to. Despite big city announcements about new products we have heard nothing since. The results will be interesting but not substantially different from what has been posted before - +/- 5% turnover, 1.8m on R&D, new products being developed and Oh slight increase in divi to keep holders happy. Safe share sure - but going absolutely nowhere! Held for years - heard it all before. imho. dyor | pommey1
07/5/2004 13:32 | if you way up; nav cashbacking freehold not revalued director shareholding accounts clean as a whistle, then even if the business was crud your money would still be safe so stop talking boolocks. | feedthegoat

03/3/2004 15:46 | It was an agency cross. Also the stock went XD for 1.66p today, so in reality up a bit more. | adam
03/3/2004 14:21 | half a million sale and price goes up. Could be share buy back again! Anyone got any ideas? | pommey1
26/2/2004 17:19 | Anyone going to the AGM to grill Jowitt? | feedthegoat
24/2/2004 14:17 | pommey1 - having worked in the distribution trade although never having used EDP products my self, I know for a fact that several of their clients are walking in the near future. People ask how if I have never used their stuff then how can I comment? Well, I am in regularly in contact with current EDP clients and I can tell you they are about to jump ship soon. | toedipper03
24/2/2004 08:45 | The software is very old and pick based. Rumour has it that they are developing a windows version. Somewhat too late I feel. It's quite surpising that for a company that spends nearly 2 million a year on R+D that they still have all these legacy systems out there. I had also heard that a number of customers were looking and going elsewhere.Just my own opinion of course. DYOR | pommey1
23/2/2004 11:46 | There we go down. | toedipper03
20/2/2004 09:35 | adam - my contact in manchester, a paper distibutor, tells me that all these new fancy technologies look good on paper but there is one main problem. The core product of EDP is called Merchant. The problem is that this Merchant is bug ridden and in places does not do what it is suppossed to do. It is also based on an old Pick style system which suppossedly is a dinosour. He also says that at times the service from EDP is rubbish. I am by no means an expert but my contact who is a user of EDP systems tells me that it is pointless EDP talking about XML HTML or whatever when they cannot get the core product right. I am stating on this info on a second hand basis, but it is coming straight from the horses mouth, the product is not good, the technology is old and customers are walking. The fancy XML stuff is just a smokescreen for a company still stuck in the 60's and 70's imo. | toedipper03
19/2/2004 12:31 | toedipper - You seem well informed - What do you think of "Quantum VS XML Highway" | adam
19/2/2004 11:22 | Get out of this stock now. Commercially this company sitting on a dead duck. Using old style computing and OS technology, PICK, that noone wants or uses anymore. Pick was big in the 60's but that's about it. Likewise the company stuck in a timewarp, does not move with the times. Why do you think they are getting customers to pledge 5 years to contracts when they sign up? | toedipper03
02/2/2004 21:45 | i'm sure they won the case but couldn't recover costs. | feedthegoat
02/2/2004 18:05 | Jowitt selling and they continue to lose court case after court case. He needs to spend more time running the business and less time learning to be an advocate. The word on the street is that customers who were not straight-jacketed by the last round of upgrades are walking. Poor product or terrible leader? I'm out. | gump
21/1/2004 16:53 | Agreed, I'm not sure that a company like this should be trying to hide director dealings buying or selling. Indeed the other directors should be buying in more often as they only have small options! | pommey1 |
