21/1/2004 11:43 | Might have got away with it if they hadn't screwed up the announcement. | feedthegoat
20/1/2004 19:46 | Seen no increase in MD's salary for a few years now. Recent up brings an easy win. Shareholding still higher than institutes and still in line with Chairman - Heller! He'll buy back when these drop again. Interesting that announcement came at close though. maybe nobody will see it! | pommey1

06/1/2004 16:40 | Looks like the company may be in a buy back situation again.IMO | pommey1
27/11/2003 15:34 | boucher No chance IMO. Just look at the results. 1m profit before EX,EX EX, It reads like a telco statement. Once excetionals, legals and dividend is paid out profit is gone. The best revenue generator for this one is the Tax Credit for R&D. Look back at the previous accounts and you will see R&D of 1.5 to 2 m each year. Why? They only have a T/O of -9m.DYOR | pommey1

18/7/2003 17:26 | I posted what is below on a different MB a couple of weeks ago before finding this one and before reading feadthegoat's posts about EDP. Assuming he is as well informed about the company as he appears to be, I think our views are mutually supportive. I appreciate his point that the company is run by "canny Yorkshiremen". One consequence of that is that they don't seem to have much time for the city whizz kids, which the city types don't like too much so maybe the company doesn't get as much press as it might. EDP seems to have gotten the reputation of being an unglamorous stock however to me that's a bit relative. I feel that it seems to offer the growth potential that few industries other than IT can offer, coupled with a certain conservatism resulting in a good balance of risk/reward. My earlier post for what its worth, was as follows: I bought into the company about 4 years ago just before the internet boom and I'm actually showing a profit again. I could have gotten out much higher at one time but like many I was far too greedy. EDP has come in for a lot of criticism in the past however, as someone who has been in the IT industry for over 30 years, I think we should consider the following. EDP has been in business for over 20 years if not 30 years. When it started the Information Technology industry was known as - yes - the Electronic Data Processing or EDP industry hence the company name. The IT industry has gone through several huge structural changes since then. Bureaux services to on site installations, now back to on line applications. Mini computers (anyone remember them) to PCs and now the internet. I don't remember the details but what I can say is that EDP - the company - has reinvented itself at least twice through that period and now it is starting to do the same again. I think we should give credit to a company that has survived through all that change and retained its independence. How many UK IT companies can say that?. That has to say something for the management. It generates cash and as we can now see it has invested in new services. It may not get back to the 400P of the internet peak, but for anybody coming in now I reckon it should be pretty good over a three to five year time frame. | richjp
14/7/2003 09:18 | Unless this company builds a major dealer network the new software will go nowhere. As far as I can tell they do not have any significant salesforce and only about c350 customers. The company is also divided into many subsidiaries with each one having it's own SOP system. The common thread seems to be the DBMS that runs each application. I hope that they find the route to market and we will all be happy as Larry! DYOR | pommey1
12/7/2003 00:00 | No Personally, I'll be very happy with a quid | call-logger
11/7/2003 16:07 | If the software takes off then they have the cash/freehold backing to achieve a substantial move towards that.Plus directors have a large holding and Herald recently inc. the stake to 8%. | feedthegoat
11/7/2003 11:49 | i bought these at £3.73 sometime ago can anyone see these shares attaining this again | boucher

08/7/2003 08:02 | Ive sold all mine now. Too tempting to take a big profit especially when the markets are so unpredictable. PS. Ive been buying TCC. Another profitable s/w company with a large pile of freeholds on the balance sheet. | hugepants
08/7/2003 00:22 | keep pointing out he is not a big earner also has 30000 options @40p but yes it is puzzling | feedthegoat
07/7/2003 18:13 | If the FD has sold all of his paltry holding of 5,000 shares, then I for one am bound to believe something is amiss, ie, the shares are over priced at the very least. The consequences of him doing so cannot have been lost on him, options or, no options; the fall in price reflects that conclusion. | azalea |
