Roy was not up to it and that has been clear for a long time .

No idea who to replace him with though .

Hoddle is interesting but a move backwards .
Southgate ... not enthusiastic but who knows .
Shearer wants to be involved .
Neville was defensive coach under Hodgeson !

Its difficult .

Having said that our players are not as good as some think BUT they clearly should have done better than they did . If they were organised and settled you have to think they could have been better . 6 changes in a game , players out of position , unbalanced , etc .

I would say Lions lead by a Donkey , but in this case probably Lions with half their teeth missing lead by a Donkey .

Lalana, Rashford and Vardy brought on start of the second have would have injected some emergency!! Cahill even tried going forward, then lost the ball!!

It just needs a couple of players to inject some confidence into the whole team.

Hodgson to hold a press conference at 1600. He refused at first but it looks like he has been pressured into it.

the FA make loads of squids and don't care. they should be performance based.

then things would change.

I repeat, the FA run the national team and they are the ones who are ultimately accountable. ONE final in 66 years? Come on.

Here's an example of the FA. in 1990 England were unlucky not to reach the World Cup Final losing to Germany on pens in the semis. So what do the FA do? Go long ball under Taylor and don't qualify for '94. Pathetic.

Roy knew he could not handle the job,he had his resignation statement ready.he must be relieved this morning except for the millions that he does not deserve.

Woy doesnt need to explain anything anymore! I dont think Lallana would have been the saviour. Even Ronaldo would look ordinary playing with that lot.

Bototm line is that they just dont care enough.

If Roy had been a decent passionate manager he wouldve been furious with last nights performance instead of the weak and pathetic 'these things happen'.

"My choice would be Jurgen Klinsman"

Would he bring any of the German team with him?

Leeds

There are, but if we played Aussie football, we would have 11 men sent off.

Perversely, that might actually improve our performance.

My choice would be Jurgen Klinsman but he would be a fool to accept it, it's become a poison chalice.

The England cricket and rugby teams have Australian coaches and they are both very successful.

Are there no Aussie football coaches?

All the crosses were over hit, shot passes, ball retention, releasing the ball at the right time, looking up to find a pass, it's like they hadn't seen a football before. I think the players wanted Lalana to start, not Sterling, there was a kind of falling out.

Roy never has a plan A, plan B, and is so stubborn. Had he brought Rashford, Vardy and Lalana on at half-time we might have won. When you look at the first half, we were so awful. He had players on the bench who could influence the game.

Everyone is over reacting, we were just unlucky. Four games and virtually every shot we had went straight at the oppo's keeper. On another day we'd have won all those games quite easily. Last night was the result of the three previous unlucky games which just added to the pressure and our heroic soldiers couldn't cope, bless em.

Our players seem to struggle with basic skills, like 5 yard passes, controlling the ball, aiming free kicks in the vague direction of the goal etc.

Is there anyone in the country that understands why Kane has been our free kick specialist ? He was poor at them in the warm up games, and got worse.

The Italian team are a collection of older players, playing in a dull league, but they sure seem to know how to play tournament football.

We never have, except at home in 66 and 96, and that excellent effort in the WC in 1990.

There's no point looking for excuses, like there's too many foreigners playing in the premier league. The eleven players who took to the field are highly paid professionals, and have performed well for their clubs.

Think you will find the premiership is not most skilful league in the world, yes probably most exciting but it creates these overpaid, overhyped prima-donnas..
