I imagine the proposed Prospect A onshore location is in a little valley in the coastal strip which is less visible from the surrounding area ... the drill geometry probably allows choice of say 500 metres in any direction, so an environmentally friendly spot is possible.. but, National Parks are sensitive. I wonder how any gas produced will be monetised .. maybe generating electricity on the spot rather than a pipeline? Company wide, it is clear that there are many possible upside triggers over the next 18 months, e.g. N Kelsey, Biscathorpe, further appraisal of Wressle, and the Gainsboro Trough (plus sentiment improvement from Cuadrilla etc making a start) ... Slide 12 in the recent presentation shows Prospect A with a "Proposed well site location".

Don't get too excited!

Regarding fracking by TOTAL in Denmark. Originally suspended due to use of unauthorised chemicals (1), then dropped as uneconomical (2).

Re Prospect "A" ... not sure about this, believe they already have the licence out to sea, and they just need the permission to drill diagonally from the land. I think this wouldn't come in a licensing round, it's a different process. BTW, studying the PEDL map will reveal that the shoreline there is in the N Yorks National Park ... so will be sensitive ... but the recent decision in favour of Yorks Potash (Sirius Mins) is encouraging. All in all though, I think there has to be a "PCOS" factor applied (P = political). Think there may be other stuff in the news before we hear about Prospect "A" e.g. Biscathorpe .... GLA.

Quite right Rogerlin, that was my understanding. Maybe it will be given in the next batch. Egdon management seemed pretty confident of getting it at the last agm - I enquired on that point.

I think they were hoping for an onshore licence to drill "Prospect A" from land but there seems no mention of that.

Licences announced ... see RNS ... two areas... Wildmerpool Basin near Rempstone, two blocks (SK52A and SK53), these are the least interesting IMO. There are five really interesting blocks SK49/87c/88b/89e & SE41e in the Gainsborough Trough ... these five will be operated by IGAS (35%) with Total highly interested (50%) and 15% for EDR ... excellent news, GLA

Still no sign of 14th round licences. Expected to hear this week since seemingly authoritative comments stated we would.

Imagine how the share price would be moving today if these weren't the investment dog days of August?! Still provides great opportunity for those not on the beach hung-over.

At least this MP will hopefully be able to find out what effects fracking has has in USA. Haven't checked if he is Con, Lab, LibDem or other.

The economic argument is obvious; its the environmental one which is doubtful, IMO.

As said before, hold ALK not EDR. Am unhappy at ALKs venture into shale.

A good solid company with a great history of hitting the mark share price wise big time. Been in here many years.

This news today - a great shot in the arm!

We have a very balanced portfolio of actual and potential standard and fracking sites. But surely this must be the absolute botttom for the share share price now. The only way is up! And who knows very quickly too, as quite often happens with EDR share price (A much better company in much better condition than IGAS too)

And a snippet from finals of last year:

"We are delivering on our strategy of building value in our U.K. shale-gas assets; this includes the landmark introduction of the first major, Total, into the U.K. shale-gas arena in three of our Gainsborough Trough licences where drilling is anticipated in 2015 subject to consents, and the acquisition of Alkane Energy's shale-gas interests," said Egdon's Chairman Philip Stephens in a statement.
