05/12/2000 16:53 | Enic have found themselves in major limbo these last few months with market sentement being only negative towards tech businesses.after agreeing a market valuation for potential targets, the board have had to realign costs on aquired stocks.now this has been done the whole enic group will go forward with three possible aquisitions, the idea is that now they can buy without prejudice to current trade price (138p).with any out goings being totally outweighed by massive holdings in autonomy.with two seperate firms giving autonomy a strong buy recomendation and priceing the upside to reach 85.000p 0r £85 the share price on enic would be at 244.00 0r £2.44,for autonomy to reach £45.this leaves enic in very cheap mode for those investors getting in and out short term,(6months-9month EST PRICE 18 MONTHS 400.00 I DO HOLD ENIC SHARES AT VARIOUS LEVELS I WILL GIVE MORE PRECISE AQUISITIONS IN NEAR FUTURE. 04/12/2000 11:03 | What about ENIC's stake in Glasgow Rangers ( to be floated shortly) and other European Clubs. Add in the Warner shops, retaurants and possibly Victor Chandler, the valuation is quite high. The shares are a disapointment and I think they are treated as an Investmnet trust ( discounted at 25% plus). Revenue streams ar erratic at best. I do not understand these shares. Any bright spark out there who can phathom the valuation anomoly? | alcide

26/10/2000 00:22 | From Citywire: 07:36, Wed 25 Oct 2000 Enic sells a little Autonomy Sports and leisure investment group Enic has sold 255,000 shares of Autonomy raising about $13 million. The book cost of the investment in Easdaq/Nasdaq-listed Autonomy was £88,000. The cash proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes. The group's residual stake of 4,245,000 shares, which is held by its fully owned subsidiary, Siapita, has a market value of $205 million (£146 million) based on the mi-market closing price of Autonomy on 24 October of $48.30 per share. The holding represents 3.4% of Autonomy. Enic's market capitalisation is currently £144.6 million based on the share price at close yesterday of 148.5p. Translating the Autonomy stake from dollars to sterling gives a value of £144.4 million. The rest of Enic's business is therefore in for absolutely nothing. We have made this point before - perhaps the market is discounting the Autonomy stake to account for market fluctuations and use of proceeds by the company. Even so there appears to be upside once again in Enic shares. | cat
26/10/2000 00:17 | Dil, you should have done it... forget the kids... BUY em | cat
26/10/2000 00:15 | I cannot believe the exposure to Autonomy. Why did they buy them in the first \\place? Lovely play on the forthcoming listing | cat

25/10/2000 14:13 | Could be a couple of day traders taking profits, mirrors a couple of buys this morning at 152p but the MM are hanging on to these. Nice turn for someone if it was but this has a long way to go yet. | clocktower
25/10/2000 13:08 | Don't forget to knock 30% off the Autonomy value for the capital gains tax ENIC would have to pay on any sales of those shares. This assumes there is not some crafty tax shelter in place. That would though be very difficult in practice. Bones | bones

16/8/1999 06:38 | Following the announcement made by ENIC plc ("ENIC") on 21 July 1999, ENIC Media Limited ("ENIC Media"), one of the three principal businesses of ENIC, has acquired for #5m in cash 25.1% of Victor Chandler (International) (On-Line) Limited ("On-Line"), an on-line sports bookmaking venture. ENIC Media also intends to acquire the entire bookmaking business of the Victor Chandler International Group, which owns On-Line. Under the agreed arrangements, ENIC Media may, at its discretion and subject, inter alia, to satisfactory completion of its due diligence, purchase 100% of the issued share capital of Newcote (International) Limited ("Newcote"), the ultimate parent company of the Victor Chandler International Group. This right must be exercised before 31 December 1999. If ENIC Media decides to proceed with the purchase of Newcote, the transaction will be subject to the approval of ENIC's shareholders, which is expected to be sought in November 1999. If ENIC Media does not proceed with the purchase of Newcote, the On-Line acquisition may be reversed (by way of put and call options granted to the respective parties) prior to 31 December 2000. Daniel Levy, Managing Director of ENIC, said: "The acquisition is a strategic move by ENIC into the fast growing international market for on-line and interactive sports-related services. ENIC will utilise its expertise and connections within the sports and media world to accelerate the growth of this business and foresees further opportunities in the sector." Victor Chandler, Chairman of Victor Chandler International Group, said: "I am delighted to be joining forces with ENIC. In particular, I look forward to developing with it the global media opportunities in sports bookmaking." | boarder
09/8/1999 14:12 | Disappointing day after the weekend coverage. It ran through my rolling stop loss and sold to preserve my gains. Recovered since I sold, as is the way, but onwards to the next share. Martini | martini
09/8/1999 00:32 | The Sunday Business, Sunday Times and Financial Mail on Sunday also carry details of the deal with Chandler, although the Mail says it was almost called off last week because of all the leaks. The Sunday Times also talks about the impending £500m flotation of 365 who are supposed to be Britain's biggest sports internet company. I wonder whether this will have any impact on either ENIC or IMS. | boarder
08/8/1999 20:58 | I wonder if shareholders get a discount :) | mr gain
