03/7/2005 18:24 | Eyeconomy Holdings plc Newstrack Announcements 29/04/2005 EYECONOMY HOLDINGS PLC FINAL RESULTS ANNOUNCEMENT Eyeconomy Holdings PLC is pleased to announce its results for the twelve months to 31st December 2004. HIGHLIGHTS - Profit before tax GBP749,367 (2003: GBP190,210) - Profit after tax GBP541,398 (2003: GBP184,470) - Earnings per share 3.37p (2003: 1.12p) Commenting on the results, Paul Mc Groary, Chairman, said: "2004 was a year of change, the company disposed of its online trading assets in May ahead of structural changes in the industry and repositioned itself as a Risk Equity investor in the media and natural resource sectors." KEY ASPECTS 2004 In January 2004, we acquired Dark Side Studios Limited, the company which held a 50% interest in Subsites technology along with Eyeconomy Limited, to ensure full control of the group's software assets. In May 2004 we sold both Eyeconomy Limited and Dark Side Studios Limited to Gaming Corporation PLC for GBP600,000, satisfied by the issue of 20,000,000 ordinary shares in Gaming Corporation PLC. We invested a total of GBP106,000 in a new AIM company which came to market in July, Silvermines Media PLC (SLV). This company was set up as a cash shell to acquire non listed assets. In December we invested GBP100,000 into a media company Access Intelligence PLC. This company is developing a number of innovative assets in the media sector. We continue to hold our 10.5% interest in Silentpoint PLC (SLP). This company took the lead in the financing of Silvermines Media PLC. STRATEGY Your company's directors have a clear approach to managing Eyeconomy Holdings. Available funds are seen as a corporate bank and finance has to be bid for. Potential opportunities only receive support if there is a clear economic case. This internal discipline has served the company well with both profits and the balance sheet responding positively since the policy was introduced in June 2001. Following the decision to sell our online trading assets we think it is appropriate to explain our focus going forward. Eyeconomy Holdings is a provider of risk capital to early stage companies and looks to finance existing businesses at strategic times. This has been our approach since 2001. Businesses where we see most potential uplift include knowledge focused companies where small amounts of capital combined with the right skill sets can create substantial shareholder value. Both media and natural resources meet this criteria. Potential businesses are reviewed against their capacity to create either accelerated growth or significant capital gains. Poorly performing assets are disposed of. Our current areas of focus are media and natural resources, both sectors where we believe we have a network of quality contacts and can create shareholder value. The company is actively interested in acquiring underlying assets not just passive stakes. As well as taking strategic stakes, the company also looks to co-invest in smaller opportunities where we believe value can be achieved. POST BALANCE SHEET EVENTS 0n the 2nd March 2005 Silvermines Media PLC became Cambrian Oil & Gas PLC at that time Eyeconomy Holdings PLC invested a further GBP100,000 into the company and now has a shareholding of 5.3% of the enlarged entity. On the 30th March India Star Energy PLC came to the market, following the listing Eyeconomy Holdings PLC holds 28.6% of that company. Eyeconomy Holdings PLC assisted with the pre IPO funding as well as investing a further GBP300,000 at the time of the listing. DIVIDEND No dividend is proposed at this time. ANNUAL AND EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETINGS The AGM will be held at 11.15am on the 26th May 2005 at the Wynter room with the EGM immediately following around 11.35am, Swedenborg Society, 20-21 Bloomsbury Way, London WC1A 2TH and all shareholders are invited to attend. The location is about three minutes walk from Holborn Underground or five minute from Tottenham Court Road. Yours sincerely Paul Mc Groary 29th April 2005 Chairman Eyeconomy Holdings PLC Tel: 07930 568160 The directors of Eyeconomy Holdings PLC accept responsibility for the contents of this announcement. | mister md | |
