04/3/2015 10:13 | Jbat - nice one and I echo the sentiment | toffeeman
03/3/2015 22:30 | You need to lower your stop the day before XD to take account of the Div you receive. | eeza
03/3/2015 21:54 | Thanks jbat. Still a novice!!! | ajrgy1
03/3/2015 16:49 | ajrgy - think you meant range, not spread? The market fell hard because the share went ex (special) dividend today. Anyone who bought it yesterday or before is entitled to the 70p return of funds. Anyone who buys today or later is not. If the market didn't fall, then someone could buy yesterday, sell today without loss, and be certain of trousering 70p a share! Since that would be free money, the market moves to prevent such a thing being possible. | jbat
03/3/2015 08:38 | XD on the 12th March for 5.5p int Div. | eeza

03/3/2015 08:22 | Just a mild panic when my total holding nearly got sold on my behalf at opening, spread tightening back up now! Lesson learnt. | ajrgy1
03/3/2015 08:18 | It's down to reflect the forthcoming 70p special dividend (for shareholders on register on 2/03, i.e. those buying today do not get the divi.) As for the spread, don't know, doesn't look too bad to me? | scottishfield
03/3/2015 08:13 | Can someone give me a little education please?? Just to explain the crazy spread in this mornings price, fortunately it has fallen just short of stop loss. I'm not a total newbie to trading, but have only recently started seriously after transferring my pensions into a sipp, I understand that dividends are factored into the share price, but would like a more in depth explanation if anyone can oblige, just to be able to make better judgement on any stop losses I put in place on my investments, cheers. | ajrgy1 |
