Certificates - what are they? :o))

Sighwatcher, from today's RNS:

"Shareholders of record when the Merger becomes effective will in due course be mailed certain forms and declarations together with instructions for their use as soon as possible after the Effective Time, and they will be entitled to claim their share of the Cash Consideration from the Paying Agent by completing such forms and returning them to the Paying Agent together with their share certificates or other evidence of ownership, as directed."

Shares to be suspended on 30th March then. Shouldn't be long for payemnt after that I'd assume.

Please can somebody have some idea when shareholders will be asked to send
certificates for payment according to the agreed bid.

for my part I would like the gain to be taxed in 2009-2010 year. although getting the money soon would maybe be good as well!

I think funchalman is right but I do think they mean not less than 30 days. So I think it will be into April before any money comes through.

I would have thought the price would have been close to the 215 by now but no sign of that either.

Markets remain grim and I think anything that rises will soon fall back as profit takers move in.

Many decent companies now on PEs of around 5 or less. You may have to wait a long time for returns but buying at these levels should eventually pay off.

But then I look at the Japanese market.

well the egm said " not less" than 30 days for the israeli registrar to issue a merger certificate so that would be around the 26th/27th march at least.(lets hope they meant not more than 30 days).
they also said they would issue a timetable in due course.and prior to the egm they did say, they hoped to have everything settled by end of march.but until they issue the timetable its a case of wait and see.
as for the 203 sell today, thats not the first and probably not the last, some people have different priorities, myself i will wait for the full 215.

and still there is a very small turn to be made here , in these days of non existant interest this seems a very good deal.

Martin Bishop, head of pension rows at the Institute for Studies, said: "It's a fascinating dynamic. The politicians blame the bankers, the bankers blame the politicians, and the ordinary taxpayer is down on all fours with a confused look on his face, being stuffed at both ends."

I can think of plenty worse places to be than parked up here right now, ie rest of portfolio!!

Gerd, agreed about RCG. Have you looked at CHNS? Historic P/E of 2.7 at worst, about to issue massively "ahead of expectations" results, a "green" stock too and outlook is rosy for the next few years. Gearing is 53%, but interest cover is excellent, and they're paying at least a 5% divi on a 114p share price. GNG is excellent too as another Chinese stock.

Other boring small caps with loads of cash like DTK include MCGN and KBC. And VLE trades at 50% of its net cash without taking its profitable businesses into account, though this will probably require abnormal patience.

Well, that is that.

Can now upgrade the tv with the proceeds. Old black and white looking a bit dated now.

Been buying a few sepu as price has been falling in last week or so.

Finally got into rcg a couple of weeks ago as price came down to 30s. Been talked about on here and still looks cheap after rise. But who knows in this market.

IMG and ARM are still great trading shares, made a lot on img in tech boom and still like trading this one.

EGM on wednesday, anyone know the time? Buy price now rising though so it may not be worth bothering taking out any short term position on these.
