Just have to keep picking up a few more, it's day in the sun will finally come and in the meantime we will be receiving a pretty safe dividend

having said that it is down suddenly

think that this is another of those solid stocks that is being sold to buy gold related stocks.

reminds me of the tech boom... everything got sold to buy tech... for the long termer this is becoming a bargain

this is a safe stock that is becoming safer as the price goes down

Swine Flu is helping, as is dementia, and care home policy with the "finished" ones, the autumn leaves
Whoae got the Wooton Basset contract and if it is not out to tender we should not simply accept that

I think that's one of its attractions.Continued growth and a predictable sales pattern.Unlikely to suprise either way.

one of the problems with this stock is there is no shareholder equity to speak of

it is all owned by the bondholders who will be fully paid off by 2030. this shows up as debt

that leaves just £25 million in shareholder equity.

as investors have been focussing lately on debt and paying it off dignity looks very indebted - er which of course it is.

not saying a bad company as unless death goes out of fashion the income streams are very secure and so debt levels and interest thereon are very manageable.

but it is very indebted.

I think this might have something to do with the decline in share price despite very respectable results

Also results are set to be so pedestrian and predictable (unlikely to surprise to the upside or the down). the market reckons that there are more exciting prospects elsewhere and this i suppose is true

seems like aegon have sold some too

Just added to my holding today at 615, in hindsight I should have bailed at 650 as I suggested I would a while back, having said that I am at a loss to understand the huge markdown on the results given that they were just as solid as expected and on a current p/e of circa 12 they are rather safer in my view than most of the retail stocks which have been bid up to double digit p/e ratios over the last six months.

As usual the share price dips with good news. Not to worry if they go low enough a good opportunity to top up.

The funeral services company today posted a 3.2% jump in pre-tax profits to £22.8 million for the six months to 26 June on the back of revenues that were up 5.5% at £95.6 million.

The average spend per funeral rose slightly on last year as chief executive Mike McCollum said that people were refusing to cut back on flowers and memorials despite the recession.

Interim dividend Up 10% to 4.03p per share (2008: 3.66p).

Nothing to do with swine flu. The market is just normalising and equities are attracting funds. Outlook for the next few years is positive for the markets and most quality shares will rise from here on.

Shocking few years we've been through, now it's payback time.
