Legal proceedings could actually close the company.
Of course, a successful counter suit by DTEC might just see the price multiply several fold.
Not much confidence, and currently clearly strapped for cash (board considering options).
Potentially very high reward, but very risky.
Will just hold on to what I have got for now.

good news for holdes.
looks like the investors are giving DTEC a lifeline, but stating they'll need to pull their finger out or the money will stop.

Look......... the LRU's DETECT and SELECT diamonds (proven) and then COLLECT them before the thieving laboerers get their hands on them. Furthermore they do so cheaply and more importantly tey detect diamonds among the tons of 'dirt' that other methods are not able to. OK, the elastic band on the conveyor belt keeps snapping ( the up-front plant)but it is not the all important technology that is screwing up.
They have many options open to them.
In markets like these any sniff of a setback is punished and understandably so.
But they have just been granted an option on a neighbouring mine, and surely the owners of that mine would not be engaging DTEC if they did not expect to collect from it ( would they want DTEC marching around their mine installing equipment etc if they were not convinced of the merits ? ). And DTEc get a share in those profits too.
So they can license the tech ......................and /or do joint ventures and / or they can sell the machines.
But the LRU's DO WORK.
I've bought more, but accept there is a risk but with a mkt cap of just £2mill i like the risk.

Hi Deal Seeker, I am a relative newbie like you, about 1-2 years. Normally i go for the high yield, low P/E shares, however i took a small position in DTEC becuase like yourself i like the engineering concepts and possible potential, also that the 'units' LRU's are fairly self contained and seem transportable, hence opening up the possibility of joint ventures on smaller patches of potential diamond recovery 'gravel'. However I do think this next set of news is the 'crunch' news, in the sense that we will really find out how effective these LRU's are, in practice.

Spurberry, if you go the other DTEC thread, there's a link to a research note published not long after the initial IPO.
There are some complexities and risks (obviously) but they are well outlined in the document, together with the possible cashflows.

Very recently, the RNS form the company stated that the recovery rates were in line with management expectations. Given there has been no official news regarding those expectations being any different to the research note, then those of us "long" on DTEC are expecting a re-rating pretty much as soon as the rates and cashflows are confirmed.

We know they have resolved the power issues, we know they have everything up and running, and we know the diamond prices have remained very strong, so all in all, unless there are shenanigans going on, this wll trade much higher in the coming months.

EDIT : Just seen your new post - where companies do not want to invest in the DTEC technolgy, then management negotiate (and my guess is that several are ongoing) joint ventures, where DTECT provide the equipment and plant, and the profits form the diamonds recovered are shared (as per Grasfontein).

some comments about dtec (Oct 2007)

Matt is keen on AIM listed DiamondTech Inc. ... 'which is involved in a diamond sorting technology known as Laser Recovery, and going into mine development joint ventures as a means of commercialization'. He says the stock has crashed over the last couple of months - from 13 to 8 pounds sterling - and wonders if I have any knowledge of the company given my 'bullish position' on diamond shares.

Frankly I had never thought about the 'supply and services' side of the diamond industry. I mean, you could always buy DeBeers I suppose, if you can afford it. Actually, truth be told, I was just conversing with someone the other day about how laser technology should be used to improve the recover of gems from ore and or aluvial gravels.

That's what DiamondTech's technology does. Its Laser Recovery Unit technology is used to process diamond-bearing gravel, also called 'run of mine'. The process is reportedly faster, more accurate, and more cost-effective than currently available sorting technologies.

DiamondTech is thinly traded, it did 50,000 shares today and closed under 9 pounds sterling. The company's goal is to commercialise the LRU technology, and it's already entered into a revenue sharing agreement with some mineral rights holders in South Africa.

If I were looking to buy DiamondTech my due diligence would include looking over their shareholders and especially the companies they plan to joint venture with. Interesting deal though. Drop me a line if you get the inside track on this LRU technology.
