|Re-booted now OK.|
|No DDE today "connection to ADVFN has been lost"|
|Thank you Andrea, it's installed and working now.|
Thank you for your post. Sorry for the late reply to your email today, you should have now received an email with the link to the page from where you can download the DDE software. However, this can also be useful for other user. The link to download and install the ADVFN DDE Software can be found on our 'Download monitor' page: http://uk.advfn.com/download-monitor
|I've sent e-mail messages to support twice, but haven't received a reply.
At the bottom of the upgrades page there used to be a link to download your DDE. I need to install it onto a new computer, but I can't find the link.|
|1220- Back in business here.|
We are currently experiencing a problem with our DDE software.
Our developers are actively looking into that.
Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused.
|DDE packed up. "Can't connect to ADVFN. Try again?" rebooted, cleared the cache still no good.|
|Rolled back to win 7. DDE all OK again all as I need.Believe win 7 supported till 2020 so will stick with it.|
We had some of our users yesterday have some issues with DDE on Windows 10. For them it was the antivirus software (Windows Defender) which was causing Excel to crash at start up. If using Windows Defender, please check to ensure that Excel isn't be blocked in any way.
If it continues to crash though, please could you let us know antivirus software you are running and also the build of Windows 10. To find out the build:
* press windows key + R
* In the Run dialog, type winver and press Enter.
|Optimist - Mine isn't working this morning.|
|This discussion prompted me to try the DDE client on my Windows 10 computers.
On one machine, which had a clean install of Windows 10 in July, there is no problem.
On another better used machine which had been upgraded from Win 8.1, it would not work although the active stocks figure increases every half hour so maybe in the morning.
It must be a conflict involving Excel as Libre Office appears to work.|
|I'm no computer techy, but I think you should contact Windows support.
|Think something to do with "Group Policy Client xxxx Not Supported" think out of my depth a bit.|
|Ken: What version of excel are you using ?|
|I have upgraded desktop and a laptop to Win 10 with same problem . Have an old laptop with Win8 so using a memory stick and will transfer to desktop in the evening. Hopefully some solution.|
|Eithin - When I upgraded I had no end of problems. I had a guy from Norton working on my system via remote access for about 4 hours and the same from Microsoft, although their 4 hours was split over several sessions.
It was all sorted in the end, although the last Microsoft guy told me that he wouldn't be able to help with problems I was having with Excel and I should contact their Office support. I didn't need to do that as he'd actually fixed the Excel problem by fixing Win 10.|
|Ken.. Many thanks tried but no success. Win 10 no DDE here. When click update on excel just get the egg timer.|
|I had the same problem Eithin and here's what they told me
Further to your phone call, please try reinstalling the DDE Client from this page http://www.advfn.com/ddesetup12.exe
That fixed it and I haven't had a problem since.|
|Just upgraded to Win 10 and DDE no not updating my spreadsheet.|
This is my formula copied from my spreadsheet =ADVFN|FTSE_UKX!NAME
It is the same. I also copied your formula to my spreadsheet with the same result.
I am using Excel 2016 Build 16.0.4229.1024 32 Bit on Windows 8.1. All other stocks and indices are OK. If you can't repeat it, it is not a problem to me.
I haven't been able to reproduce this as yet, having tried in both LibreOffice and MS Excel 2013.
Could you confirm that you are using the following syntax:
=ADVFN|FTSE_UKX!NAME if using Excel
=DDE("ADVFN","FTSE_UKX","NAME") if using Libre Office
|The Name Field for FTSE UKX is returning FTSE100指æ•;°
I think it has been doing this for some time.|
|Same here hindsight. Is there an ADVFN email list which announces when technical issues occur with ADVFN DDE feed? Just thinking for users much more efficient to have such an email list that have all users trying to see if their setup (PC, internet, local software) has gone wrong.|
