Skyship,

Thanks for clearing the confusion up. I wasn't sure if i'd read your original comments correctly or not. I certainly didn't want to teach a granny to suck eggs, but at risk of doing so again :-)

Regards the UT trade.
It's not necessarily a MM - anyone with Direct Market Access can utilise the Auction facility for SETS or SETSmm stocks. It's usually attractive as it's spread free but in this case one party has been a little generous allowing a uncrossing trade at a high price.

I'd also like to thank you for sharing your research, you've provided me with several interesting plays to consider outside of my traditional investing area. Cheers.

Well actually, hands up - I saw the trade, forgot the UT acronym & posted before checking out the Trade definitions below:

So, to all - thanks for the comments. Still don't understand why a MM would want to uncross at a 10p premium to the market price!

BT - Yes, back in here at an average of 239p & counting down (in an optimistic frame of mind) to the Finals in c4weeks time.

The CEO's swansong year - sure he would like to announce a good rise in the NAV, which I suspect will get into the 280s, even after deducting the recent 8p special dividend (payable 7th April incidentally).

I think SKYSHIP is one of those people

Sorry SKYSHIP I read your post 1148 as asking a question, that's the problem with forums you don't get the non verbal bit ha ha (Sometimes the non verbal bit is the most important)

"there are many people on here who are better qualified to provide a definitive explanation"
I think SKYSHIP is one of those people! - he was only quoting someone else.

Best regards SBP

Skyship,

Actually with an UT (uncrossing trade) there is no spread at all. It's a matched price in the opening auction.

A sad indictment of a little bit of Market ignorance first thing this morning.

I don't know what a UT trade is officially, but the trade at 08:00.20 this morning was certainly a Useless Trade for someone.

Bought - 4253 shares @ 246p!

We all know that the MMs quote wide spreads at the open; then as the day settles down the spread contracts and the share price tends to settle back to that traded near the previous day's close.

Some poor sod paid 10p over the odds...

contrarian joe - comprehensive mixed use regeneration projects seem to be popular with local councils in recent years, let us hope DSC can work their magic on the one at Circus Street, Brighton.

Dev Sec buys JV partner's stake in Brighton project

18 March 2015 | 08:14am
StockMarketWire.com - Development Securities has bought its 50:50 joint venture partner McLaren Property's stake in the £100m 'Circus Street' regeneration project in Brighton for a total consideration of £4.0m.

Resolution to grant planning consent was secured in September to transform a derelict fruit and vegetable market in a prime location in Brighton into a comprehensive mixed-use regeneration project.

Circus Street will incorporate 142 residential units, 450 student beds, 38,000 sq. ft. of office space as well as a new dance studio for South East Dance and a new library and academic buildings for the University of Brighton.

The project is being delivered as a public private partnership alongside the freeholders of the land, Brighton and Hove Council and the University of Brighton.

At 8:14am: [LON:DSC] Development Securities PLC share price was +1.38p at 232.88p

Apparently there are just three analysts covering DSC. Their concensus Target is 288p, with:

CJ - very true; however even adding back that 8p the black line in the above chart (P. No.1139) would be passing through 233p - still well below all the others. Volume still pitiful...

Don't forget the 8p divi investors will receive,xD 7th march so investors on the registrar 6th march will receive the divi, the chart therefore is misleading.

SKYSHIP yes, disappointing indeed, oh well, I bought for the special divi and may well have to hold a bit longer ha ha.

The last few days have seen a bit of a shake-out in the property sector; but unfortunately none more so than here! In very love volume DSC has managed to drop c9%, so unravelling all its hard won 2015 gains.

Disappointing; but we should make it back with the Prelims end April:

Good profit from Sevenoaks site, but the bigger news is TFL JV.

What they purchased to be an office redevelopment now set to be a wider residential development with over 300 resi units.

DSC will presumably be appointed development manager so will get a fee and performance fee for managing the development (i.e. the land owned by TFL and LBS) as well as its profit share related to the land that it owns.

DSC has now recovered practically all of its Autumn'14 malaise, which had resulted in a fall back to as low as 185p in October as (I assume) The Quantum Fund sold the small rump of their holding, most of which had been placed with Aberdeen

We are now 35% up from that low - as ever, timing is of the essence in this game!

With the Prelims due at the end of April, I would expect the share price to have fully recovered to its Feb'14 high of 265p; and with the Real Estate market continuing to grow strongly; and with that strength building up in the provinces; the share price will start to anticipate the profits flowing from its substantial investment portfolio. 300p beckons for Calendar 2015...
