25/8/2012 06:41 | Derwent Gets London Boost DERWENT GETS BOOST FROM LONDON'S 'SAFE HAVEN' STATUS London is enjoying "safe haven" status among investors according to FTSE 250 property company Derwent London. The company, which specialises in offices in London's West End and the borders of the City, said the eurozone crisis had driven more investment to the capital. London office transactions totalled £7.2bn in the first half of the year the most over a six-month period since the second half of 2007. John Burns, Derwent's chief executive, said: "London has become increasingly polarised from the rest of the country. Overseas investors are very much wanting to put money here." The value of Derwent's property portfolio rose 3.3pc in the first half of the year, with rents up 2.8pc. The company has secured a pre-let to Burberry in the largest letting in the West End this year so far. Just 1.1pc of Derwent's space is vacant. Mr Burns said there was reasonable "pent-up demand" for West End office space against a backdrop of little development. He said the company was feeling positive about the second half: "We're getting all our rents in on time. We're getting the signals. You get a feeling." Mr Burns said the company was expecting to be in a "low interest rate environment" over the next five years. He said there was unlikely to be a "tremendous spike" in rents. The interim dividend, payable on November 1, rose from 9.45p to 9.95p a share. Source: P.S. Here's some links about SCLP, one of the hottest stocks at the moment: | northernlass

12/2/2009 14:13 | i guess we won't need a rights issue, so that is something, will buy but I don't think we are near the bottom yet, | elmfield

24/1/2008 17:21 | Dunno, but does that a lot, though not often to that extent. If you're going to sell, do it in the morning. Buy, in the afternoon. | hamsterwheel
24/1/2008 17:18 | I was wondering the whole day about the reason ,what made the price of this share to be so high about 11% up then at once after one hour or so was much down.is there anybody knows, to tell me please .. | fabou33

07/1/2008 14:15 | Held onto a few of these since LMS but I must say am starting to wonder if sub £10 looks like possible this year However it seems that property has become attractive as long as it is the best,so to cover a rally I have added at 1350, though keping enough powder dry to buy more should it fall back again. | elmfield
06/12/2007 12:27 | Buy on the rumour of a BOE rate cut, sell on the fact - Great trade that was. | notanewmember
02/12/2007 20:56 | No risk to the directors who get the "free" shares. If they go up - they can sell down the line... If they go down, they've lost nothing. | notanewmember
30/11/2007 10:52 | jonwig - look at point 8 of the RNS's. They are allotment of shares under the perfromance scheme. | hamsterwheel
29/11/2007 15:49 | How do you arrive at that, HW? Six of the 7 RNSs referred to purchases at given prices on 21/11*, totalling 105,814. There was an O trade of 84,417 shares on that date. Seems a close enough match to me. *eg. SJ Silver ... 25,019 shares @ 1336p. | jonwig
29/11/2007 09:17 | joneig - actually, they got given the shares. Rather different ! | hamsterwheel |
