02/10/2007 12:04 | Hi Zeppo, for takeover value I look at the Enterprise Value from the financials tab and divide by number of shares in issue. It is a bit rough and optomistic but not far off usually. With DVW its a staggering £21.39 !!! All the time Tobin's Q is lower than 1 there is a significant risk of takeover. However DVW has a major share holder in AXA who own 35% and I suspect like things just the way they are. The determination from Ofwat may change all that though. | praipus
02/10/2007 11:51 | Praipus & Scribbler101 It would be easier to continue with this thread. The company will remain in the news with Interims in a month or so, and the application for an interim determination of prices. Praipus Thank you for the important posting above. On the NWG thread you posted a takeover estimate and I asked if you could suggest one for UU. (or even for DVW which may obviously change with the interim price determination) Can you help? z | zeppo
02/10/2007 11:04 | Food for thought.... Dee Valley applies to Ofwat for interim determination of prices UPDATE (Adds details from the statement) LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Dee Valley Group PLC said it has applied to the water industry's financial regulator, Ofwat, for an interim determination of prices. The provider of water services said Ofwat will announce its determination on the company's application no later than Dec 14. The company said any changes to the prices from this application will be effective from April 1, 2008. Dee Valley said the application has been triggered by increases in costs, due to a number of customers switching from unmeasured to measured charges and increases in the level of bad debts and the cost of debt collection. Additionally, the increase in charges paid to the Environment Agency for the abstraction of raw water and discharge of effluent, as well as new legal obligations related to the safety of the operating assets, also led to increasing costs, the company said. | praipus
02/10/2007 11:02 | Scribbler 101 until zeppo returns I have started another thread with charts and news | praipus
02/10/2007 10:55 | Dee Valley is the last remaining quoted water only company in the UK. The market two years ago valued the company more highly than the city boys... Counter added 2/5/2014 | praipus
24/9/2007 14:33 | zeppo - if you're still here please can we have chart, news, etc in the header. | scribbler101
24/9/2007 14:33 | Landsbanki initiates coverage with a buy and 1232p price target, which gives 32% upside from current levels. | scribbler101
12/9/2007 21:30 | Linhur - I thought they could put someting in the supply line to reduce flow to a trickle? They can, of course, also sue, get judgement, and proceed to bankruptcy/bailffs etc. But if they don't bother, I will cancel my standing order! | scribbler101
12/9/2007 19:23 | New application submitted by DVW to OFWAT for increase in prices on several grounds including more measured water customers than forecast, higher bad debts and higher Enviroment Agency charges for water abstraction. I asked several questions on bad debts at the AGM,and it seems there are more and more people who will not pay water rates. There is no sanction as they cannot be disconnected. DVW application to be decided by 14 December with activation if successful in April 2008. regards linhur | linhur
05/6/2007 14:07 | Careless phrasing by myself. The divi has been raised. I am content. z | zeppo
05/6/2007 13:58 | What don't you understand? 10p drop meaningless on trivial volume. | scribbler101
05/6/2007 10:53 | Divi increase o.k. by me. Do not understand the rest - or the 10p current price drop. z | zeppo
22/5/2007 14:17 | DVW figures out on 5th June, as are UU. results. DVW AGM to be held at Rossett(Llyndir Hall?), 26th July. NWG results 6th June. Kelda results 7th June. z | zeppo
22/5/2007 13:40 | Wow, quite a story, and the aftermath seems to drag on forever. The small print is always very clever for them not to pay out. Hope you get a favourable settlement on Friday. Best wishes. LHG | lundhousegreen
22/5/2007 13:07 | lundhousgreen Thank you for the good wishes. The aftermath of the coach accident has dragged on. The holiday insurance which we bought through Ramblers Holidays does not cover the cost of a tooth implant (£2,500) needed after my wife's tooth was smashed in the accident. The holiday insurance small print excludes payments for remedial work carried out in England - not in Spain , where the accident happened. Our household contents insurance with Direct Line, which includes a Legal Help option has provided us with a solicitor to recover the cost of the tooth from the Spanish motor insurance on the car which struck our coach, causing the accident. A tortuous process which we hope will be resolved by the autumn. Separately, Direct Line are backing us to sue Ramblers Holidays for the aftermath of the accident when we had twelve days of the holiday left. That decision will be on contract law and is due to be heard this Friday. We are witnesses for another couple who are sueing Ramblers Holidays. Friday's case is all important as we will get an out of court settlement if our side win the case. If the case is lost on Friday, our separate court hearing scheduled for June will not go ahead. Viva Direct Line! z | zeppo
22/5/2007 09:42 | Hia zeppo. Hope you and your wife are now fully recovered from your trip 17 months ago?? LHG | lundhousegreen
22/5/2007 09:35 | Scribbler101 I live in Hampshire, but occasionally travel up to East Lancashire or Liverpool. My wife and I spent 8 nights in Wales recently, starting with three near Llangollen. The AGM will be announced with the Full Year Results, in two weeks or so. z | zeppo
21/5/2007 18:14 | When is the AGM? But no great hardship to visit the Boat anyway! Do you live nearby? S | scribbler101
21/5/2007 17:05 | Scribbler Thank you Do you go to AGMs's Whether you do or not, perhaps we could meet up at the Boat Inn for a drink sometime. z | zeppo
21/5/2007 14:06 | Zeppo - I live nearby. Know "Y felyn yd" (as we call it in Welsh) well. There are several good places to eat locally. The Boat at Erbistock has a setting that makes the Corn Mill's look ugly! How to post pics here? | scribbler101
21/5/2007 12:53 | Scribbler101 I have not been to an AGM(usually at Llangollen?) but was staying in a b&b near Llangollen recently. There is good pub grub at the 'Corn Mill' near the main bridge over the Dee - with decking areas overlooking the river. Telford's 200 year old aquaduct takes the Llangollen Canal over the Dee, nearby, at about 130feet in the air. Quite spectacular! Might take more notice of the AGM date this year. z | zeppo
04/5/2007 18:36 | The Dee does meander a lot! | scribbler101
03/5/2007 10:38 | With the Competition Commission agreeing the Mid Kent water merger this week, perhaps water shares may come back onto the menu? or with AMP4 reaching half way stage perhaps thoughts will turn to a harsher review of AMP5 in 2010? DVW will continue its meandering way whatever the outcome. regards Linhur | linhur
06/2/2007 13:49 | 3i are raising a £1.5bn infrastructure fund! So all that cash is going to be looking for cash generating assets with monopolistic features. So I would buy all the utilities and infrastructure trusts (ECWC,UIL,UEM) you can before they do IMHO. | praipus |
