Isis,

Re dividend I am working from memory not that long ago but is one of their results in the last 12 months I think.

The retail sector getting ever more competitive now I noticed a further blue cross sale again it looks like they cannot maintain business without constant sales.

With Debenhams a lot lower margins than Marks if things get worse the rebasing of the dividend would have to be considered.

They always blame the weather whatever it is.

Where did they say they were rebasing the Dividend?

Marks, Sports Direct, Bon Marche have all reported they have been hit by the weather I suspect Debs will be no different.

Marks has a operating margin of 6-7% where as Debenhams is about 4%.

Doesn't look good from my standpoint and I see more pressure on the downside.

The company has already hinted they may rebase the dividend so I would not chase the yield as its at risk.

harebridge.....i think the profit warning from sports direct earlier today is not helping retail again . if debs meets forecasts we could see nice rally but it is big ask considering what next marks and sd have had to say so far,

Any negativity on trading as the share price will fall below the 60 pence level. Then the dividend is at risk.

I follow retail very closely. Looking at all the results out this week & last, a few profit warnings have been averted due to a massive increase in online sales.

They even have changing rooms for people in wheel chairs so no excuse mate.

Not on your nelly. It may be for those who are housebound but most people want to feel and try on clothes before they buy.

Retailers getting hammered again. Bricks & mortar retailers look like they've had their day & the new kids on the block - pure online plays are set to takeover. A new world order for retail is emerging.

Seems a reasonable if. On the other hand if Xmas was OK we might be in the high 70s.

A bit short of information at the moment. The nervous normal this time of year.

Looks like the share price is pricing in more woes and heading for 2014 low.

Marks and Next report this week and according to analysts Marks is losing out on fashion and analysts are seeing a 5% fall or thereabouts.

Seems Debs been downgraded....

Good point. There is a downside to retailers.

On the other hand, the internet market is growing , year in year out.
If BON can't grow someone else must be growing PLUS SIZE!!!

I predict a poor Christmas for a number of retailers poor/mild weather won't help.

Bonmarche gave a warning yesterday on unseasonal warm weather which may hit other retailers

I happen to think Debenhams is a little way behind its comparators.

Think sentiment for Deb is being hit by Mike Ashley's sports direct gamble imho

Careful Ed. The mild weather could wreck their winter sales of warm clothing.
