28/6/2011 13:59 | they've got until the 5th of july to post the offer doc;thats the same time when the OFT will end their inquiry into the merger. | abc125
27/6/2011 20:32 | Any sign of this offer document, or are we going to have to wait the whole stretch for this cheap offer & the proceeds. OK, the profits are nice, but the bid in the market tells me we probably will have to accept being strung out all the way. All the more time for a counter-bid? | napoleon 14th
23/6/2011 16:14 | Its in my interests to hold on as I have most of my holding bought around 5p. So an extra penny a share is worth hanging on for. although I wish I had it now to re-invest elsewhere, haha. | mreasygoing
18/6/2011 09:19 | I've taken mine at 17p+. I think there's little chance of it not going through, after all, the Gov let Menzies and Smiths take all of Dawson's other business. For me it was just about being able to make more than that 5% or so that I've foregone by investing it here in the market elsewhere, on a low in the market at the moment. If the market hadn't come off I'd have held out for my 17.7p. Pendragon seem to be taking a lot of stock at 17p to hold for the 17.72p from the RNS's I keep reading. CR | cockneyrebel
18/6/2011 01:30 | abc Scott Wilson had a little bidding war - SWG | zangdook
17/6/2011 10:09 | Hindsight is a wonderful thing, holding DWN and waiting for the sale to complete would have given great certainty and a shelter from this weeks awful markets. I sold and all my buys with the proceeds are lower, only my CPR short has made any money. Oh well. Live and Learn. Good Luck to everyone who is still holding. | davydoo
16/6/2011 12:54 | schroders have sold the blinkin lot. 3,056,005 shares at 0.1705 foregoing £20k profit. Maybe they think the t/o might not go through. Where's that offer doc lol? edit: pendragon have picked up the lot for 17.05p, so looks like the MM's did not make any money on this deal. | abc125
15/6/2011 09:43 | very big volume today. | abc125
14/6/2011 14:23 | Pendragon Capital have taken a 2.44% stake through cfd's. What are they? An arbitrage outfit? They stand to make about £13,500 by my cals. | abc125
13/6/2011 12:45 | smith have to post the offer doc by 5th of july (within 28 days)....lets hope they don't take it right to the wire. | abc125
13/6/2011 10:44 | well i took 40k off today..needed to pay for another. Good time this bid came in...fill or kill @17p did the trick...maybe try higher is an option. | jailbird
13/6/2011 10:19 | Really depends on how much you need the dosh, if you cash in now you might get that bargain and make even more money! or not. | dazzaa
12/6/2011 16:54 | I hope they post the offer doc next week and get the bid timetable going and not wait the full 28 days. Even then, it could be 8-10 weeks b4 we see any money. I've got too many to sell at a 5% hit but if the bid creeps up, i may reconsider. | abc125
11/6/2011 19:47 | That was enlightening thanks | dazzaa
10/6/2011 17:01 | Yes that true, none of mine either but lets not dwell. Well Tricorn went up anyway, third day in a row, why? I really will miss DWN. | dazzaa
10/6/2011 10:42 | Counter bids are rare nowadays, back in the gogo 80's and 90's it was all the rage. The few stocks in my portfolio which have been taken over in recent years have not seen counter bids. Has anyone come across any recent bidding wars on the lse? | abc125
09/6/2011 22:20 | Cheers CR, Yes, the headline is very misleading, it was Smiths News that referred it to the OFT, typical Press Headline! I have been giving more thought to the details of the Smiths News takeover bid, I think that the Dawson's staff will feel very let down by the board. DWN will effectively be broken up and the staff can lump it or leave it. Ride your winners comes to mind, I think that the DWN board had a great opportunity to ride this winner for a few years more to complete a fantastic turnaround. I appreciate that the Board have been through corporate hell and back over the last 2 to 3 years and are probably feeling drained, but they are jumping ship far too early imo - you just need to look at the Smiths News presentation to see how happy Smiths are with the deal. Ernie. | erniemadoff
09/6/2011 20:57 | I am not sure they are wording that right. An 'investigation'? I think it's more that the OFT have to have their say as they do in a number of mergers. "Mark Cashmore, group c.e.o of Smiths News [pictured], said: "Given the size of the transaction, we have chosen to take the transaction to the OFT for our own comfort. We do not anticipate any issues." I think it's just a clearance issue really. CR | cockneyrebel
09/6/2011 20:10 | CR, What do you make of this? Your thoughts would be appreciated. Ernie. | erniemadoff
09/6/2011 19:50 | I'm sure the OFT are very proud that their initiatives to create enhanced competition in this sector, and which of course destroyed Dawson News, are pleased with the final, and inevitable, consequence of those initiatives for the parent company. No wonder this country is on its knees when state sponsored monkeys create monopolies by trying to increase competition. Lobotomised organutans could have done a better job... | gnatschuff
09/6/2011 14:33 | what the fox was that? A declared sell of 1.15m at 16.5p. Shouldnt the holding have been disclosed a lot earlier? at least it shows where a lot of the Schroders stock was going. Interesting to see Pendragon Capital using CFDs to increase their holding, a hedge fund maybe? their website doesnt say a lot | davydoo
09/6/2011 10:46 | Interesting tactic from Buffet, here's hoping for another bid - cheers mmickyboy. Ernie. | erniemadoff
09/6/2011 10:26 | One of buffets tactics is to buy on first bid, then wait for further offers to come forward. Usually brings in handsome profits, and if not you get your money back, unless offer is withdrawn of course. I missed these as i didnt like the chart @ 5p ah well can't win them all. Well done to those that bought and held on | mmickyboy |
