Hi BritishBear, Thanks, my profit was 295 pounds. SFX is my latest success for this week, and I bought back 3,000 pounds into LNG at 18.5p last week.

Is this a tree shake or is it that to make further gains you need to hang on for the medium term?.

Nice to see the Norseman mines get another lease of life. Just a shame they've attracted the usual rampers. Not to worry, they'll soon get bored and move on. Having worked at Norseman in the 90's, I thought I'd share some insight into the mines and the problems. Don't under-estimate the challenge facing Barry Cahill and team, but if anyone can resurrect Norseman he can. The big issue stems from the nature of the gold mineralisation. It's very narrow and varies wildly in grade. However "bonanza" shoots with grades measured in the ounces per tonne mean that it can be very rich. The problem is that such veins make very difficult drill targets, so mine reserves tend to be low compared to its peer group. That makes mine planning a nightmare and causes fluctuations in costs, such as killed previous owner Croesus Mining (coupled with a poor hedging strategy). To resolve this dilemma previous operators have targeted open pit resources to supplement underground ore. This allowed the plant to operate at full capacity and take some of the uncertainty out of the equation. However these surface resources have been heavily depleted and exploration has only had limited success in replacing them. This has led to a reduction in mill throughput and higher costs. A further problem had been the depletion of the HV1 vein at the Harlequin mine complex. This was a great ore shoot, with consistently good grades and widths. The other veins at Harlequin are smaller and structurally much more complex. This has resulted in a big increase in costs. To summarise. To turn Norseman around, Barry needs to fix Harlequin and bring it to account. They also need a third ore source, to optimise mill through put. Ideally this'll come from some new open pit source, but failing that they may need to open up a third underground operation. Certainly a situation worth watching, but it's far too early to say whether the new company can avoid the problems that have plagued its predecessors.
