Here's my take on the situation:-

I managed to buy at 30p so 50p would see a 66% gain in less than 12 months which I really can't complain about... That said, I think Seven Tech are getting an amazing deal as well at circa 30% below book value (don't have figs in front of me). Personally I would like to have seen nearer 60p (min) but let's see how this plays out.

I would say a complete done deal. Investec hold close to half the issued share capital, while Gervais Williams (Miton)who also hold a sizeable stake is seemingly in support. At the end of the day, those that bought in the teens will be happy enough, longer term holders less so. From a personal perspective, I would say it is going too cheap, but then again it has suffered from lumpy sales, stop start and has never really gained traction. A shame, but there we go.

Interestingly, the second RNS today reveals that Hazell Carr Edwards (Guy Thomas), Octopus Investments and Unicorn Asset Management (with a combined total holding of 14.88% of the issued shares have NOT given an irrevocable undertaking to accept the offer, so I guess there is a glimmer of hope that a better offer will emerge.

DTE is in a hot area I know a chap who sold a business like this to G.E. a while ago so there must be a chance of another offer.

Poor deal it has to be said.

Wouldn't be surprised to see this trumped... so not selling mine yet.

Worth 60p minimum.

Looks like a done deal at 50p. Not generous.

The 1000 shares which were sold yesterday and which caused the bid to drop have ended up with house brokers according to today's announcement.

Indeed but I still think Datong will be taken out at a much higher level. The market makers took the stock and didn't lower the offer.

Thanks for post. Sorely tempted to add to exposure but just waiting for some sort of trigger such as one of the three market makers moving of the offer at 50p. Although investors might be best served if no bid arises, it would be nice to see one on the table.

Indeed checkers. Why accept even 60p/70p when things are starting to get interesting? The timing is no coincidence, the last contract was significant.

Looking back over past annual reports, it looks like the current larger shareholders have been holding their positions reasonably constant over the last few years. If they were to profit from their investment the buy out price would have to be north of a quid.

Their holdings (including Guy Thomas) go back to 2007 when the price was well over 1 pound

Praipus well they have approx 20p per share of cash in the bank so hopefully the rest is worth more than 8p per share!! And yes I been following and accumulating for a few years although not quite at the 3% level.

Orange1 seen quite a few funds selling in to market strength recently Slater Investments, First Eagle and Newton Invetsment Management on the WAM thread. Others like Paribas Arbitrage and Weiss keep buying!

Thanks DVI I saw that in one of your earlier posts I sense you've been here a bit longer than I have and have a better margin of safety.

As for T/O value some businesses go for 3 x sales = £29m or £2 per share :) but sometime's its enterprise value and thats less than market cap according to the ADVFN figures and that would be about 28p :(

In the most recent Annual Report Hazell Carr were listed as having a 6% holding so the recent announcement reveals that they have sold 22500 shares since then.

lol@ "want to be bought" that is a significant advantage to DTE shareholders.

So LCG does have at least a chance of recovery and may even fall in to the "buy the glitch" category to use a phrase from Guy Thomas's "Free Capital".
