07/11/2013 00:02 | Hi Darias, Will certainly be looking at DCG results closely and good luck. One of the appeals of DCG is its relationship with Waitrose which is rapidly gaining market share. Until now the growth of Waitrose (top end) and the discount supermarkets had held me back from holding any supermarket shares. I have looked at them again and SBRY has a very strong brand, good management, and recovery written all over it. MRW (which is also coming out with a quarterly management statement in the morning) has real growth potential underpinned by a massive freehold property portfolio. It may take a few years to really flow through to the share price but I am very happy to wait! CGT reasons played a part in my decision to take profits here. Goldpig | goldpiguk
06/11/2013 15:56 | We bought over April/May 2011 for £3:82. In line with our policy of introducing a stop loss at 30% profit it was due for sale but I recommended purchasing more to take our average to £4:42p The dividend yield is so good that I did not want to sell. A majority of the club agreed so we cancelled stop loss and bought more. Best of luck with SBRY and MRW. We hold MRW (bought in June at £2:75) but caught a cold with Tescos (May 2010 £4:24) :-(. Do not fancy putting any more into supermarkets. We also have our Christmas knees up at end of November so are unlikely to trade until January which means we would face penalties from Barclays for not trading for three months if the stop loss had not been acted on. | darias
05/11/2013 21:19 | Hi Darias, I sold my holding of 5,000 DCG yesterday which I had bought for c.3.30ish a couple of years ago. There is much to like about this company and it would certainly make an attractive takeover target. In the short term it may be vulnerable to further margin pressure and risk reward going forward now looks more evenly balanced. Yesterday I also sold my BT holding after a very strong rise and used the sales proceeds to buy Sainsbury's and Morrison which were not in my portfolio. Both SBRY and MRW have a higher dividend yield and both dividends should rise faster than at DCG. Goldpig | goldpiguk
04/11/2013 13:30 | Added today. Now represent over 4% of our investments. Even after adding current price represents over 14% over our purchase price. With a dividend yield approaching 4% seemed rude not to have some more. | darias

19/9/2013 17:39 | Panmure Gordon's foodies took a trip to Dairy Crest's cheese operations, and liked what they saw. They increased their target to 600p and rated it a buy to "reflect the opportunity in whey". The group, which recently reinstated its Buttermen characters, pictured, to its Country Life brand, gobbled up 2p to 483.4p ahead of a trading update on Monday.
